Description
AMMAS2: Mini Auto SERE 2000, Satin Blade
Al Mar Knives

World renown as one of the world's finest tactical folders – now made in a smaller, more compact automatic model. Originally designed by Al Mar and Colonel Nick Rowe in the early 1980's for the US Army's SERE school, today's updated models are stronger, lighter and the most precise versions they've ever made. Available in satin finished S30V or matte black with the new ceramic coating - the most corrosion and scratch resistant finish used so far. Both the black and satin versions feature texture anodized aluminum handles, pillar construction, flow through design, dual thumbstuds and an awesome reversible Deep Carry Pocket Clip for discrete carry and delivers the knife of performance you need in the real world.

The new Auto Mini SERE 2000 knives are a great every day carry option with their low-ride clips and aluminum handles which provide great traction but won't shred your pockets like their G10 counterparts. The safety is properly placed on the back spine of the handle for a very natural feeling function. Action is very quick and makes a nice snap but the most impressive thing about the Mini Auto SEREs is the lockup - dead solid with no play in any direction. Pick this knife up today and it will become a favorite of yours in no time.

Back to the roots
Aword about last review and the origin of this knife : Al Mar's are usually made in Japan by the top makers, as Moki for instance, but the (rare) auto ones, like this 'mini' version of the outstanding SERE auto, are made in USA and in S30V steel (by Benchmade and formerly by Paragon cutlery). The great handling quality found in the regular SERE, for me the best in the AFO style utility blades (exception made of the rare Dalton) are found back in this pocket, urban version. Better used and patinated with the years ;)

Amazing but missleading
Great knife, but it is listed as being American made. Al Mar may have been from the U.S but these knives are made in Japan. Dont get me wrong, these knives are very high quality, but I like to stick with knives made in the good ol US of A, i.e, benchmade and spyderco. If you dont care where your knife is made then but one of these bad boys! sharp as hell, and built to last!
