BH15TT10BK: Tatang

Tatang is a Tagalog term of address reserved for only the most feared and respected martial artists. In honor of this proud warrior tradition, we have made a knife that distills the savage cutting power of the traditional Filipino barong into a smaller, more versatile package. When gripped at the rear of the pistol-grip-style, thermoplastic rubber handle, the weight-forward balance of the Tatang's black epoxy-coated 1085C tool-steel blade gives it tremendous reach and chopping power. Choking up on the integral subhilt shifts the balance back for more controlled cutting, trapping, and backcutting with the sharpened false edge. Designed by edged-weapons expert Michael Janich, this incredible knife comes complete with a reinforced ballistic nylon sheath.

Pros: Blade Material, Finish, None
Cons: Sheath/Scabbard
Nice knife, but...
I ordered this knife because of the video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. When this knife arrived a couple of days ago, the first thing that popped into my mind was Crocodile Dundee's "That's a knife" quote. This is a big knife and, for me, a problem. The blade is longer than the hilt. You see, you'll need to have a strong grip to use the knife as well as keep it secure i.e. in your possession. In stabbing a post, the knife kept wanted to twist out of my hand especially if I used force. However, when chopping a post, especially low on the hilt, proved advantageous. With the sheath, I would have preferred a kydex sheath rather than nylon.

my brothers dream
My brother cody is a marine and claimed "perfect combat knife" he would sit out and practice while I used it for utility tasks. For a soldier you can't go wrong. And for the sheath issue. Just get some paracord and get creative. We found many ways to put it on his adu.
