BM140SBKSN: Nimravus

The sleek, the Benchmade Nimravus signifies Benchmade's first fixed blade offering in several years. The Nimravus was styled by designer Allen Elishewitz to appeal to Benchmade customers who wanted a lot of the same features, materials and styling traditionally found with Benchmade folders except in a fixed blade format. As you can see it has a very good utility blade shape, and will perform equally well in a diverse selection of uses. Although not a geometric Tanto shape, this modern tip design is among the strongest configurations available today.

The 4.5" full-tang blade is ground from 154CM stainless steel and features a false edge that lightens the blade without sacrificing tip strength. The Blades are BK1 coated - Benchmade's proprietary blade coating offering excellent corrosion resistance, which exceeds the ASTM-117 specification for saltwater corrosion resistance. BK1 is a poly-ceramic coating (a blend of polymers and ceramic). It's thinner than the previous blade coating BT2, has equal to or better corrosion resistance (exceeding the ASTM salt spray standard) and unlike BT2 has much better wear resistance due to the ceramic. Additionally they have integrated a series of positive indexing notches in the spine for sure-grip blade control.

One of the most important features of any fixed blade should be the sheath, and this one is no exception. The sheath may also be carried inside, or outside, the waistband. The versatility of the knife and its sheath design allows for carry and use in nearly any application that warrants a tough, mid-sized fixed blade.

Pros: Sheath/Scabbard, Materials, Handle Material, Weight, Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness
Cons: None
Great knife
I have one from the first production run with a serial number that my grandfather got for me. Love the knife and have used it (more than I should I know) but getting another one so I can retire the collectible. It's a great useable size for skinning and whatever else you want to cut. Not big enough for chopping or battoning but I'm sure the knife would hold up to it.

Great all purpose knife
Bought this knife on a whim, because it looked cool. Used it this weekend on a camping trip. It cuts everything from heavy, braided nylon cord down to fishing line like it's nothing. Chops small palmettos and branches, and then cuts up deer meat for dinner. Cleaned it up when I got home. Found no burrs or nicks on the cutting edge. Also, a very handy sheath. I like the leg cord--keeps it out of the way in the canoe.

It's a Benchmade….
… Expect alot and get alot!!! I use this as my "when in doubt knife", the Nimravus is the best knife I have ever bought. And others must feel the same way as it took me awhile to find someone who had it. Great job Knife center!!! This is my 4th Benchmade and I am only bummed about waiting so long to get it.
