Fantastic Hunting Knife
I received this knife as a gift and I couldn't be happier. This is a beautifully made hunting companion. The blade has a high Saber grind that ends in a razor sharp edge. Straight out of the box I cut a cash register receipt in half, lengthwise, with one stroke. Amazing. There is plenty of belly and this knife really glides through meat. It easily separates skin from a deer and even works well on tough squirrel skin. There is jumping on the back of the blade near the handle and up near the tip of the blade. The G 10 handles are quite nice to look at but even better to hold. The grooves that run lengthwise down the G 10 scales don't create any hot spots on my hand but give good grip, even when wet or bloody. The tang of the knife that runs along the top of the hangle between the scales has been scalloped and is very attractive as well as having the effect of increasing grip. The tang protrudes from the back of the handle just enough to for a lanyard hole. I generally like to have a lanyard but I won't with this knife since it will get bloody and nasty quick. The handle scales are held on with two allen bolts. The kydex sheath is a no nonsense unit with a reversible belt loop. It has decent retention and is comfortable to wear. Holding the sheath upside down I cannot shake out the knife but it is still easy to draw. All in all, this is a great hunting knife that will do anything you ask of it.

Awesome knife! Great ergonomics, just enough grip and jimping, perfect size and weight for a hunting knife. Very impressed by the S30V steel that this knife uses. Just gutted and skinned my whole mule deer without having to re-sharpen. That is unheard of for a knife. Usually you have to re-sharpen after gutting or halfway through the skinning process. This steel is TOUGH! Did not chip or dull when I cut through the chest cavity which is bone! The sheath is kydex and holds the knife very secure at all times and is very easy to clean up. You wont even know its on your belt. I Really do love this knife and will never have to purchase another hunting knife in my life. Benchmade is one of the best and highest quality knife companies out there hands down. If you are a serious big game hunter I would really encourage you to invest in this knife, you will be glad you did when you are in the back country gutting that monster deer/elk!
