Benchmade

Introducing another ultimate in functional synergy. Single-hand ambidextrous, manual AXIS open function. It's an unbeatable duplicate of the Benchmade automatic Model 5000 Auto AXIS, but in a Manual version! Secure grip is had with a unique two-directional tread machined into the aluminum handle scales movable steel carry-clip clips in for action when you need it.
Features
  • Machined Aluminum Handles with Patented Grip Pattern
  • One-Hand Ambidextrous Function
  • Unparalleled AXIS Performance
  • Overall Rugged Tool Construction
  • AXIS® A patented Benchmade exclusive, AXIS has been turning heads and winning fans ever since its introduction. A 100-percent ambidextrous design, AXIS gets its function from a small, hardened steel bar which rides forward and back in a slot machined into both steel liners. The bar extends to both sides of the knife, spanning the liners and positioned over the rear of the blade. It engages a ramped, tang portion of the knife blade when it is opened. Two omega style springs, one on each liner, give the locking bar it’s inertia to engage the knife tang, and as a result the tang is wedged solidly between a sizable stop pin and the AXIS bar itself.

Pros: Blade Material, Lock Ease of Use, Lock Type, Overall Quality, Pocket Clip, Weight, Ease of Opening, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Handle Material, None
Solid Knife
The 520 Persidio is by far an under valued knife. This is a fantastic large EDC or Tactical knife. I simply love to have it in my pocket. The blade profile and shape make for a solid blade that stays sharp and is multi-functional. I like the large thick handle as it makes for an easy grip. The aluminium scales are probably my only negative point. I was lucky to get the 520A in S30V and changed the scales for a Carbon Fiber and Silver Tweed G-10 combo.

An overall Solid Knife
This is a heavy duty knife, its built tough and is clearly made to last. I have a few Benchmade knives including the Benchmade Triage and I use them on a daily basis, The grip on the 520 is superb, it really is an excellent design by Benchmade. Overall for the Price it is an excellent knife and since its a Benchmade you know its high quality.

Pros: Blade Sharpness, Handle Material, Overall Quality, Pocket Clip, Ease of Opening, Lock Type, Handle Feel, Weight, Lock Ease of Use, Blade Material
Cons: Weight, None
What can I say? It's a Benchmade.
Great knife. Came with that Benchmade edge, and uses great materials. The weight has been described as "inspiring" confidence, but it can be both a pro and a con. The AXIS lock is a bit easier to use than the Spyderco Cage Ball, if anyone is making the transition. This has been in my pocket since the day I got it.
