Benchmade

Introducing another ultimate in functional synergy. Single-hand ambidextrous, manual AXIS open function. Secure grip is had with a unique two-directional tread machined into the aluminum handle scales movable steel carry-clip clips in for action when you need it.

Features
  • Machined Aluminum Handles with Patented Grip Pattern
  • One-Hand Ambidextrous Function
  • Unparalleled AXIS Performance
  • Overall Rugged Tool Construction
  • AXIS® A patented Benchmade exclusive, AXIS has been turning heads and winning fans ever since its introduction. A 100-percent ambidextrous design, AXIS gets its function from a small, hardened steel bar which rides forward and back in a slot machined into both steel liners. The bar extends to both sides of the knife, spanning the liners and positioned over the rear of the blade. It engages a ramped, tang portion of the knife blade when it is opened. Two omega style springs, one on each liner, give the locking bar it’s inertia to engage the knife tang, and as a result the tang is wedged solidly between a sizable stop pin and the AXIS bar itself.

Benchmade Quality
I recently purchased the Presidio Trainer from Benchmade as a training aid for deploying and use of a tactical knife with an AXIS locking mechanism. It has a great feel to it with a nice gripping surface, it's rugged with good weight and very smooth action. The authentic, AXIS locking mechanism is outstanding and allows for lightning fast blade deployment with a slight flick of the wrist, much like a real, AXIS-equipped Benchmade. I have no real complaints about this training blade- for a tactical folder, it's terrific. The lock-release button on the Presidio is a bit larger and clunkier than on my daily carry, the Benchmade Sequel 707S; and the action of the lock seems even smoother and more ergonomic on the Sequel, but that is not to detract from this training blade. I would love to see Benchmade make a smaller version, the size of the Sequel, though; because the blade length of a real Presidio makes it illegal for concealed carry in many metropolitan areas of my state (California). I had never handled a Presidio prior to this purchase, so I wasn't aware of the size difference, (the Sequel is an inch shorter when closed and has considerably less girth) but I wanted the performance and feel of the AXIS lock, as well as the quality of a Benchmade. In that, I was not at all disappointed. This is a high-quality training knife and I would certainly recommend it, particularly to anyone who owns a Benchmade knife with the AXIS lock!

Excellent Trainer
In advancing my knife training, I have found that it is imperative that you have a dull trainer for any live blade that you use. As good as the live blade is, the trainer is just as good!
