My first and last Benchmade. Had it for two hours...broken. (handles are as cheap as I've ever seen) Way better knives out there for a 3rd of the cost. I was so disappointed to fine the amount of blade play that I did. Come to find out the problem is a round set screw shaft and a D shape hole on the frames. Sorry but that's not how things work. If the set screw shaft had a D shape there would be no blade play. Junk and poor craftsmanship are my thoughts on this knife. Never will I even look a this brand again.

Nice fit
Having moderately large hands, it is always a challenge to find a working knife that fits well in my hand but isn't a brick on the belt or in my pocket. The first impression is that it might be small, but then you realize that it fills your hand, has good weight, and handle texture. No bad edges noticed so far, and the stability of the blade and locking system is rock solid. It's a bit stiff opening and tight closing but that suits it well as a working knife. Great price for the quality.

A good general purpose knife...
I have both the 527 & 585 as I like the size and design. While each is similar, there are marked differences. The 527 is not an assisted-open style like the 585. But it does open smoothly and quietly. The 527 securely locks in place with no noticeable blade wobble. Out of the box, the pocket clip is tight to the point that it may require some bending on my part to more easily stow. And like my 585, the 527 is usefully sharp. Can't shave with it but then it was purchased as my everyday carry knife while on duty.
