BM580: 580 Barrage Assisted AXIS Folder
Benchmade

For the first time ever, Benchmade's best selling AXIS lock gets a boost. These spring assisted models combine speed, strength, and most importantly function in one complete package.
Features
  • Strongest Assist Locking Mechanism on the Market
  • Ambidextrous Function
  • Reversible Carry-Clip
  • Safety for Both Opened and Closed Position
  • Lanyard Hole
  • 154CM: An American made premium grade stainless steel originally developed for tough industrial applications. Known for its best all-around qualities, it offers great corrosion resistance with good toughness and edge quality.
  • AXIS® A patented Benchmade exclusive, AXIS has been turning heads and winning fans ever since its introduction. A 100-percent ambidextrous design, AXIS gets its function from a small, hardened steel bar which rides forward and back in a slot machined into both steel liners. The bar extends to both sides of the knife, spanning the liners and positioned over the rear of the blade. It engages a ramped, tang portion of the knife blade when it is opened. Two omega style springs, one on each liner, give the locking bar it’s inertia to engage the knife tang, and as a result the tang is wedged solidly between a sizable stop pin and the AXIS bar itself.

Cons: Handle Material, None
Really good knife
I bought this knife from knifecenter.com because here it's around 150$. And i love it! It came "Benchmade sharp", I could shave with it right out of the box. Opens real nice and fast. I even removes spring for assisted opening and still no problems. Axis lock secures the blade great. Oh, and a tip broke off, but it was my fault for using it as a screwdriver :/ All in all, great knife, definitley worth buying.

where's the beef?
Not my first Benchmade, carried that one for years, but I've had this one almost a year and it's proven itself to be reliable as hell after being opened several million times and it holds a shaving edge as any piece of fine cutlery would. True one-handed deployment. I have a one arm friend who's interested in one. I use it mainly to eat bbq but if something needs cutting in a hurry, the Barrage is quick. I recommend this easy carry tool to anybody who wants an assisted opener. I might get another with a tanto blade and give it to me for my birthday.

Poor model
Pros: Blade holds an edge very well Cons: Cheap feel to the handle The spring failed to open the blade after 1 month The blade is very hard to push out manually Prior to spring failure the blade would not close all the way leaving a portion of the tip exposed The blade wouldn't always stay locked in closed position it would deploy at random Summary Bad knife from a great company, get another knife even a Benchmade just not this one I have a 950 rift great knife
