Pros: Sheath/Scabbard, Finish, Handle Material, Weight, Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness
Does what it does
I carry this on my competition rig, along with a basic IFAK. I have a pair of EMT shears, but those will eventually break while this hook will keep going on, and if it needs sharpened, just send it back to Benchmade with 10 bucks to get it super-sharp again. This will cut just about anything in it's path that you would find in a first-aid situation... seatbelts, jeans, 1000 dernier "tactical nylon". 440C is plenty for a cheap, sharp blade that isn't really exposed to many hazards. The grip-material is not slippery (same as the rest of the knife) and is on there pretty tight. The sheath is great. Sturdy and made out of solid materials, and comes with a MALICE clip that will attach to your MOLLE solidly. Has an elastic band at the top to keep the knife in place, but readily accessible if you pull on the velcro on the flap.I'm not too sure if I like how it holds in my hand. It's pretty comfortable to hold if you wrap your hand around the hole in the handle, but then the rest of the handle is grip-less. That 'bump' between the blade and the first finger groove doesn't really seem adequate, but it should be. I'm probably a bit paranoid.Oh, and it's dirt cheap, and a Benchmade, so it comes with the great warranty.
