Pros: Overall Quality, Ease of Opening, Handle Feel, Handle Material, None
Cons: Weight, Blade Sharpness
Solid Knife
I am a fan of the Stryker series since I first purchased the Emerson CQC-7 years ago since then I have also purchased the Nitrious, and now the 908 Axis. First off the knife is noticeably heavier than the previous titanium liner /liner lock Strykers, making this one more noticeable when carrying in the pocket. As far as locking mechanisms liner vs axis for me its a draw I like the simplicity of the liner lock but also like the idea that with the axis lock that I can close the knife by pulling back on the axis locking pin and slide the knife back past my thigh to close without getting my fingers near the business end of the blade. The new tip down clip in the back of handle carry vs the tip up carry on the previous models really makes no difference to me as I carry the knife inside my pocket. I have read some arguments for and against either carry method and personally thought it was just knife yahoos splitting hairs. Given the choice I do prefer the tip down clip down as this helps prevent the blade from accidentally swinging open and surprising you when you reach in your pocket however in a sandy environment may prefer it the other way was it keeps debries out of the pivoting mechanism. Quality: The knife feels solid like the pervious models. The blade is a little thicker and stronger than my nitrous version. The blade alignment between the side plates is good in the middle. The knife when received was not ultra smooth when closing although this has gotten smoother with use. I also helped the smoothness by disassembling the knife and polishing the back of the blade which contacts the axis locking bar. It is now smooth as glass. Also I adjusted the blade tension to where I like it and used blue locktite thread locker to keep it set there, On previous benchmade knives the pivot screw has loosed over time. When locking up it is solid and sturdy and seem much more of a heavy use knife compared to its previous incarnations. It can be used for EDC in jeans but seems a bit heavy for business wear. I like the G10 handles as they do not show wear/scratches. Sharpness you may want to touch it up it seems Benchmade uses some sort of automated sharpener which leaves it blade edge rough and showing sharpening marks on it. I have a Wicked Edge sharpening set that I use to bring the knife to a nice ultra-sharp edge. That is about it. Summary: A good solid heavy duty use knife. I would buy it again.
