HK® USA Knives introduces another unique model in 2007 with the 14440SB Ally™. The Ally is poised to appeal to a broad market for a variety of reasons. Combining useful mechanisms, high quality materials, and the “No Compromise®” attitude expected from HK , consumers should expect to see an exceptionally popular new model hitting the shelves soon.

The Ally uses a new single-piece, folded stainless steel handle that adds strength while keeping additional materials at a minimum. There are multiple advantages to the new design in that there are fewer pieces to assemble and fewer moving parts. This handle assembly also keeps the knife beautifully simple yet strikingly tough.

The Ally comes standard utilizing a SB black coated, partially serrated, AUS8 blade. At the rear of the knife is a glass punch for added functionality. The handle has also been chamfered to reduce the overall weight to 2.92 ounces. The single piece handle construction is wrapped in a way that allows for a slim profile. The Ally also comes equipped with a large lanyard hole and a moveable pocket clip. This knife can be carried almost any way the owner desires.

One of the greatest features to this knife is the price. At $40 MSRP the Ally is expected to be a very popular choice for just about everyone. Law Enforcement, first time knife buyers, knife enthusiasts, and everyone in between seem to be attracted to this little hero. Combining form and function into an attractively priced package makes it all that much easier to have an Ally by your side.

Great Knife
The H&K with 2.8" blade was exactly what I was looking for. Light weight, very sharp, nice looking knife that I carry in my pocket daily.

Great value EDC
I first got this knife in 2009 a few months before going to Iraq. While I was there, I let a friend borrow it, and he didn't want to return it... So I just bought another at the base exchange there! I've carried it with me in all my travels, used it aggressively and have barely taken any care of it. It is a great knife. Will not let you down. Good blade, although I wish it was plain. That is the ONLY con i have for it. For the price, it cannot be beat.

Pretty good overall
Added this knife to an order at the last minute, because it looked interesting. The folded steel handle intrigued me, and overall, I have to say this is a good knife for the price, very light and easy to use. AUS8 is a decent enough steel, and I wish they'd left the blade unpainted. The blackout look is okay, but a blade that doesn't get marks from every task would be better. I also wish they had this one in a plain-blade version. The thumbhole is great, opening is smooth and easy, and the framelock is no problem to operate with one hand. There's no blade play, and the blade is centered nicely in the frame. There's also plenty of jimping around the knife for good grip. The only real knock I have with the knife is the butt of the handle. The oversized lanyard loop is made of metal with a square cross-section, and has very sharp edges. Combine that with the (in my opinion, unnecessary) window-breaker nib at the end, and the handle begins to really dig into the hand uncomfortably. I took a small metal file and rounded the edges, so it's much better. I certainly wouldn't want to have to do that to a knife costing any more than this one. Generally, this is a good knife that's very interesting and usable.
