BO01BO295: Boker Plus Kwaiken Flipper Folder
Boker Plus
Slim and sharp, smooth and beautiful - an accurate description of the folding Kwaiken knife from Boker Plus. After a long time in development, this folder is a design of young knifemaker Lucas Burnley from New Mexico and a re-engineered piece of his popular fixed blade model. Burnley wanted to translate the Kwaiken's typically slim concept into a folding knife without drastically changing the proportions.

The result is a design which has fascinated us at first glance. The clear lines and the slender knife which nevertheless houses the entire blade in the closed position are absolutely unique. Whoever is expecting to find compromises in the area of ergonomics because of the slim handle should take the knife in his hands and see for themselves. The slim blade is made of AUS-8 stainless steel and deploys extremely smoothly due to the IKBS bearings. This knife is very reminiscent of the Heiho from CRKT and will definitely not disappoint.

Boker Plus Kwaiken Flipper Folder

After the success of the original Kwaiken Folder, Lucas Burnley went back to the drawing board and designed a flipper version. The enhanced feature makes the Kwaiken Flipper a must have.

Pros: Overall Quality
Cons: None
Feels as good as it looks!
Wanted a Kwaiken when it first came out, but heard about blade fitment issues and I felt the thumb disc ruined the lines of the rest design. Glad I held off because Boker has now made it perfect with a flipper option, excellent lockup, centering, and unlike the first production run, no part of the blade protrudes out of the handle when closed. Well worth the money, I love it!

Home Run for Boker!
I've been a fan of Burnley-designed knives for a while now. I bought the original "folder" version (green micarta scales) of the Kwaiken, and mine had major problems (the blade would open if the knife was gently tapped--bad detent, and the blade tip would nip fingers when closed). I returned it and picked up a limited edition folder version; quality was better, but the blade tip issue persisted. Problems aside, I love the aesthetics of this knife so I anticipated the titanium flipper's arrival with hopes that the problems had been corrected. I'm happy to say this knife is, dare I say, perfect. Quality control is vastly improved from the first two I bought. No imperfections, no scratches, perfect operation, etc. Home run! This knife is every bit as easy to deploy as an automatic, without the legality and mechanical complexity concerns. The IKBS system is awesome. This knife carries well because of its dimensions. The design is also very efficient in that the handle is no larger than necessary to fully contain the blade. That said, it's great to hold. It's heavier than the other versions because of the ti scales and backspacer. The clip, by the way, is steel. Knifecenter seems to be doing well with these (selling out regularly), as they should. They got my business by being the first online retailer in the US to offer this model. Kudos.
