BO02BO284: Boker Plus CK-1 Rescue
Boker Plus

U.S. outdoor and kayak specialist Abe Elias designed this emergency knife, based on his specific experiences. It is an essential tool in every situation in which quick aid for yourself or others can be a matter of survival. Bright yellow handle scales (detachable), made of Zytel, make the knife visible in any situation, and provide a firm and secure grip, even with wet hands or gloves. The straight cutting edge prevents the material being cut from slipping off the edge, maximizing the effectiveness. Partial serrations behind the tip make it easy to cut belt or webbing without working the whole blade close to the body, and the sheepfoot design with the round tip prevents injury. The blade steel is 440C stainless, titanium coated. Includes a Kydex sheath. Blade length: 3 1/2". Overall length: 7 3/4". Weight: 3.5 oz.

Pros: Materials, Blade Sharpness, Handle Material, Weight, Blade Material
Cons: None
Solid water rescue knife
Bought for my life jacket, for river rescue. The handle is comfortable, and the blade is a good shape for working around victims. There's enough of a point that I could puncture something, but the rounded tip allows it to slide close to skin without cutting a victim. Having the serration at the end of the blade seemed odd, but it cut one inch tubular webbing easily. The sheath is a Kydex copy, and has no way, except for a few rivet holes, to attach it to a belt, or a fastex patch, or anything else. However, that can be jury rigged with cable ties, velcro and paracord.

Great knife, so-so sheath
I purchased the Boker Plus CK-1 with the intent of using it to cut open my waders if I needed to get out of them in an emergency. The knife will definitely do the job, but my issue is with the sheath. Removing the knife from the sheath takes some effort (it's a VERY tight fit), so quick removal is not possible. I hang the sheath on my suspenders. Pulling on the knife to remove it will only stretch the suspenders, and the knife remains in the sheath. Rather than using friction to hold the knife in the sheath, they should have used a mechanical catch instead. Also, the sheath is much wider than necessary.
