Description
BO030401: Boker Magnetic Wood Kitchen Knife Block Olive
Boker

Safe Storage.

KNIFE BLOCKS MADE OF SOLID WOOD - COMPLETELY HANDCRAFTED IN EUROPE.

The beauty of these Boker kitchen knives deserves a fashionable, yet functional storage device. This knife block design shows the elegance of these Boker kitchen knives even when not in use. It also lets you identify the required knife immediately. Each of the seven segments houses a magnet with enough power to hold the knife securely, but still allows easy accessibility when needed.

The flat surfaces make it very easy to keep clean, with no tight slots or holes that can collect any dust or grime. The ash wood provides stability and style at the same time. Matches perfectly to our Boker Damascus kitchen knife series, but also holds up to seven other knives with the following blade lengths: 5 1/2", 6 1/4", 7", 7 7/8", 8 5/8", and two 9 1/2". Solid ash wood with olive finish. Made in Solingen, Germany.

Pros: Material Quality, Construction
Cons: None
Nice Looking, Needs a Heavier Base
I bought this because I was grossed out by talk of the germs that can build up in the more traditional, slotted knife blocks. I like the look and the scale of it, and it keeps my knives easily available, yet nice and tidy. Things you should know before buying the product: 1) the base is not as heavy as it probably should be, so you can't just wrench off a knife (the holder will tip). Instead, you have to slide the knives off the panels. 2) The magnetic strips within are much skinnier than the wooden strips, so you really can only fit one knife (even a small paring knife) onto each wooden strip. As an aside, I think I'd design it so the wooden strips are magnetized front and back-- then it would become a truly efficient storage option. Overall, though, I'm happy with the product and would recommend it to other buyers.
