BO112013: Boker Cronidur 30 Lockback
Cronidur 30 is the latest of the premium steels coming out of the space shuttle program and Boker ist the first to have it available to the sporting knives industry. Cronidur 30 was developed for use in the aircraft and aerospace applications, where component durability, reliability and long life are a must. Cronidur 30 is superior in corrosion resistance to 440C stainless steel. Large carbides evident in other high grade steels do not exist in Cronidur 30. Instead, there is a homogenous structure of finely dispersed carbon nitrides. With a Rockwell hardness of 58 and the blade composition needed, these blades will sharpen and hold an edge unlike any other steel currently available. Boker's classic lockback hunting knife, featuring the new Cronidur 30 steel, with elegant Grenadill wood handles are crafted with finger grooves and palm swell to fit the hand perfectly while providing sure control.

Leather Sheath
Leather Sheath
Leather is known for its durability and traditional appeal. When compared to kydex it is preferred for its silence when bumped against other objects, as well as blade retention.
The original locking mechanism. It can be found mid spine or at the bottom of the handle, and it provides tight lockup that will wear well.

Pros: Ease of Opening, Blade Material, Handle Feel, Sheath, Overall Quality, Lock Ease of Use, Blade Sharpness
Cons: None
This is an awesome steel, unfortunately not used very often for knives
As a knife collector, I have knives with all sorts of different steels. This high quality lock back uses Cronidur 30. Nitrogen has been used in the place of some of the carbon, so what you end up with is a SUPER rust resistant, tough, homogeneous type of stainless unlike anything out there. It takes a wicked edge too, that is easy to maintain. Edge retention, I suppose should be similar to 440c, but in my experience seems noticeably better.

Boker 30 Review
I will be using the knife on my hikes for general stuff. One thing I really like is the fact there isn't a clip on the knife.

Awesome Gift
This is a forthcoming birthday gift for my husband. I purchased it with the help of my Uncle who knows more about knives than I and from what he tells me, my husband is going to be shocked by his gift. My Uncle says that knives are truly personal and difficult to purchase for someone else but there is no way my husband is not going to like this gift. I can't wait to give it to him for his birthday.
