Boker WWI German Army Trench Knife 5-5/8" Blade, Original Specs (121918)
BO121918: Trench Knife
It was 1915 when Heinrich Boker & Co. Solingen received the government order to develop a compact fighting knife that would be especially useful for trench warfare. After 90 years, we are reproducing the original knife blade out of high carbon steel with 0.75% carbon. The pronounced steel crossguard, the wood forearm handle, (designed for a firm and safe grip), and the official tang stamp are identical to the original - as is the cowhide leather sheath. On the back of the blade, each knife shows its serial number. Blade length: 5 5/8". Overall length: 10". Weight: 5.9 oz. Made in Solingen, Germany.
Leather is known for its durability and traditional appeal. When compared to kydex it is preferred for its silence when bumped against other objects, as well as blade retention.
The original steel Capital of the World: Solingen, Germany produces some of the best Kitchen knives and straight razors money can buy.
Generally harder and will be able to take and hold a very good edge. They are susceptible to rusting and must be oiled after using them or before putting them away for an extended time.
Provides a traditional, natural look and feel to a modern tool. Wood absorbs shock well and is popular in axe handles.
