BU110: 110 Folding Hunter
Buck Knives
The 110 Folding Hunter--A traditional favorite! Buck's Folding Hunter was created in 1963 when Al Buck decided that a revolutionary lockblade knife was needed by outdoorsmen who wanted a sturdy knife but did not want to carry a long fixed-blade knife. He was right and the result proved to be the key to the company's future. The challenge was to combine the strengths of other folding knives with locking mechanisms into a good-looking, reliable product. It wasn't easy, but after a series of refinements, the Model 110 was unveiled. Within six months, this innovation was the hottest knife in the industry. The Folding Hunter, after over 50 years, is still one of America's best-selling knives.

This is Buck's standard blade material because it approaches the wear resistance of high carbon alloys while delivering the corrosion resistance of chromium stainless steels. Add our exclusive heat-treat process and you have a very user-friendly combination of superior corrosion resistance with excellent strength for wear resistance and durability. You also have a blade that is easy to resharpen. For best performance we harden to a Rockwell hardness of Rc 58.

Clip Point Blade
The crescent tip makes the blade thinner with a sharper point. This shape provides good control for detail work and cutting in tight places. It is also well suited for intentional punctures like new holes in your belt, etc. While the point of the blade is effective for detail work, it's not as strong as the thicker points on drop points and skinners.

Leather Sheath
Leather Sheath
Leather is known for its durability and traditional appeal. When compared to Kydex it is preferred for its silence when bumped against other objects, as well as blade retention.
The lockback system has been used for many decades. It can usually be found on the knife spine and it provides a strong lockup that will wear well.

Blade is to brittle
I was trying to cut this peace of hard wood, I hit a tiny little bump & the black chipped. Ha & a lot of people say that "Buck" is the "best" knife company. & you know what I tell those people, "Go Cold Steel, or Go Home "

Wondeeful knife
At least a couple of reviews have complained that the 110 is stiff to open, doesn't snap closed, and doesn't close all the way. These are people who know nothing about knives. All three of these things are marks of quality. Stiffness, and a child could open any 110, means everything is tight, as it should be. Not snapping closed, and not closing all the way, is how top knife companies protect the edge on a good knife. There is no folding knife you should allow to snap closed. All that does is flatten the edge. As for not closing all the way, the 110 does close all the way, but stops before the edge is resting on steel. It's a wonderful feature that preserves the razor edge on this knife, and it dos come with a razor edge. This knife is not only a classic, it's still the best folding knife on the market for those who actually know knives, and who actually use them for something other than show.

Follow up report
So folks here it is, the first warranty repair 110 back from Buck, and yes, its really nice, you cannot tell it was reworked not at all, it is repaired, the open and close stiffness and it actually works really well and is very nicely finsihed, you still need to clean them up and lube them a bit, they will break in very nicely, and the materials are still top rate. So if you dont mind adding some postage when you get a bad one, its worth it if you like the style, super rugged design and materials. Buck really does stand behind the products and wants us to be happy with the knives as well as them. Dealing direct with Buck has been a pleasure and very easy, just as it always is with KCI. Stay sharp, Acid
