Cons: Blade Sharpness, None
Well made, needs honing
This is a good little pocket knife. It weighs very little, but is just big enough for a solid grip if the situation requires it. Made in the USA, it is solidly constructed. Exterior surfaces are flush and snag free, except for the center pin on one side. Springs are sufficiently stiff, the blades are perfectly aligned. The small blade has no play, while the large blade just a hint. Buck's 420HC appears to have good hardness. The reason why I did not give it 5 stars is the blades were not sharp out of the box and required a fair bit of work, and the small blade is undesirably chunky. The blades are sharp, but not crazy sharp like my carbon steel blades. This knife is usually in my pocket, and it opens boxes, bags of snacks, and cuts down packaging for the trash. Over time, my appreciation of this knife will probably grow.

Gotta have a Buck!
My husband has carried a Buck knife for almost 60 years. He recently lost his knife and insisted on buying another Buck. WE couldn't find the specific knife he wanted locally, so I had to surf the web for it. These days he only uses it for opening his mail, but he will not use any other brand of knife. He really likes the Buck Companion because of its light weight and its ability to slip into his pocket with ease and comfort.
