buck model 486 a knife to have.
Buck knives are my everyday companion. I use these from the kitchen and in the field. There light weight is a virtue. Great quality and construction. Full length spine for strength. American made, great price, doesn't get any better.

Great value for this knife
A American made great knife. It's lightweight, sharp, safe and reliable. I wouldn't hesitate for second to buy another one. It's a blade I've already recommended to all my friends. It locks tight and snaps open with a loud click assuring you won't have it clap shut on your hands while using it.

Average use knife
This knife I usually carry for it's ease of sharpening as an EDC folder. I have abused the living crap out of this knife and to be honest have been impressed with it. It does have the tendency to blunt relatively quickly with heavier than usual use but does very nicely with cardboard, paper, plastic and other ever day things. I did end up bending then breaking the tip when I was doing field work as a seismologist, but that actually made me more pleased with the knife because I did it by throwing it in gravel to test the knifes capabilities (took about 100 throws to break). Not the most intelligent thing I've done but it did give me an idea of how much the material could take. I have large hands and generally prefer a thicker handle so that I have more to fill my hands which I find more comfortable and usable. The lock works really well but requires two hands and is quite stiff and some people find it difficult to close. Quite happy with this knife.
