CKCBR200C: E.D.A. “Every Day Axe” Folding Tomahawk, Coyote Brown
Combat Ready Knives
Tomahawks are trending! The knife industry has been witness to the development and introduction of dozens of different models of Tomahawks. First we saw a very nicely priced piece come from SOG, then United Cutlery followed up with a great one, more recently we’ve seen CRKT and Gerber’s rendition and we love them all! How else can it be described except that: Tomahawks are trending!

Enter the E.D.A Axe or “Every Day Axe” (as it is affectionately called) by Combat Ready Knives. This tool is a completely different take on the “Tomahawk Trend.” With this blade’s uncanny ability to fold all the way into the handle, this design will allow its user to actually carry the axe in the pocket, it even has a pocket clip to prove it!

The axe has a frame-locking handle on one side, a G-10 overlay on the other side. The blade is designed with a ‘cockscomb spine’ and a nail-nick which allows for two independent opening methods: either traditionally with the thumb or by catching the ‘cockscomb’ on fabric to rotate the blade.

The weight balance of the axe allows for strong swings and deep impacts in a compact size. The design of the handle (when gripped properly at the handle base) keeps the users hand out of the path of the closing blade.

The entire package is secured together using stainless steel chain-ring bolts; a very stout choice for this tool. The construction is minimalist in style, as they say: “with less parts in assembly, less can go wrong.”

Combat Ready Knives is dedicated to “outside the box thinking” in knife designs as well as a firm belief that knives are tools and should continuously be used as such. The momentum that the Combat Ready Knives line has and will only continue as they climb the ladder of recognition within the industry.

This is something that I have in my pocket Every Day! It is a little big for some people, but I like a big knife, for big hands. I haven't had a chance to put it to use yet, but I'm glad to have it with me just in case!

Impressive Tool
I got this for Christmas from my VERY awesome wife, and while I've tested it some I haven't had a chance to see how it works long term. I'll update later. For now it's very ruggedly built, and larger than I was expecting. I can pocket carry it, but just barely. In my 5.11 stryke pants it goes corner to corner in the cargo pocket, it won't fit up and down. It comes pretty sharp, I touched it up because I'm obsessive but it was a respectable edge when I opened it. Speaking of opening, mine hasn't loosened up yet but after reading other reviews I'm confident it will with time. I can use the back spines to open it on a pocket but I can flick it opened from a closed position (if I barely get it started it'll flick just fine). Lock is TIGHT but I know that'll loosen up with time as well. It's heavier than I expected, a titanium version would be awesome. It'll be interesting to see how often I use it but so far I'm really enjoying tearing into boxes and showing it to friends.
