CR2901: Heiho - Veff Serrations - Designed by James Williams
James Williams is actively involved in teaching Military special operations and government security professionals who must at times perform their daily high risk duties in environments where carry of firearms or larger knives is impermissible. It was at their professional request that these close quarter combat knife designs were developed.

The result of this request is the CRKT Heiho. The distinctive blade shape is classical Samurai which gives outstanding penetrating power as well as slashing performance. A stainless steel Inter- Frame build with a liner lock, polished G10 scales, ambidextrous thumb-disk opener, and black stainless steel carry-clip round out the make up of this defensive folder.

The Heiho makes full use of our patented OutBurst® assisted opening mechanism, and if required, can be quickly disabled easily. The Heiho also incorporates our patented* LAWKS™ safety. This locks the blade in the fully open position making this folding knife a virtual fixed blade. The innovative and patented Veff Serrations are a welcome new addition to the Heiho. Veff Serrations superior rope, fiber, and technical cutting ability is well documented and exclusively offered by CRKT.

The Heiho™ professional folding knife is overbuilt to last. This is arguably as much defensive security as you can find in a small, easily concealed, tactical folder.

Heiho review
I bought the crkt heiho about a year ago, it was an interesting design for self defense purposes. I have carries it for almost a year now and it is a great knife. The clip however is terrible, the upswept end can catch onto lawn furniture, no problem opening one handed, pretty rust resistant and hella sharp out of the box. Thick solid blade only complaints are the clip and the jumping on the thumb disc should be horizontal to the blade and not vertical, buy one!

Grows on you
When I first received the knife, I was very disappointed in its stiffness in opening. It was so difficult that I ground down the handle material in the finger groove to make deeper access possible, as well as adjusting the screw tension. After working the knife a bit, the action smoothed up considerably. Now, it is fast to deploy, shaving sharp and one of my favorite EDC knives. One warning: if you carry it so that the blade is free to open (i.e., not against the inside of your pocket) it might. It openned once in my back pocket while walking down the street and it was a bit precarious withdrawing it while not slicing my hand or drawing too much attention. Anyway, all in all, one of my favorites.
