Makes all your other stylish knives extinct.

Flavio Ikoma's latest folding knife looks like a T-rex on stainless steel steroids. The Fossil™ is one part hard core, one part gorgeous and one part 12,000 pound flesh-eating dinosaur.

The Fossil™ combines the best from designer Flavio Ikoma. With styling cues found on his previous Sampa™ and Carajas™ models, the Fossil™ ramps up the artistic flair to create a piece that is clearly Ikoma, yet distinctively a new breed of EDC folder.

The pocket knife features an IKBS ball bearing system, combined with an opening flipper for silky smooth blade deployment. The flipper turns into a handsome finger guard when the blade is open. A thumb hole cutout in the blade gives you a second option for opening the knife. This model of the Fossil™ has a non-reflective, gray EDP coating that adds durability to the blade. Veff Serrations™ make quick work of rope, webbing and other fibrous materials. The handles of the Fossil™ are stainless steel with a unique hammer finish. The knife locks open solidly with a frame lock. Duo-tone G10 scales add contour and grip to the handle. The pocket clip is tip-up carry only.

The Fossil™ has the beauty of a museum piece combined with the shear muscle of a prehistoric carnivore.

8CR13 Stainless Steel
8CR13 Stainless Steel
Considered a value steel, 8Cr13 steel provides adequate corrosion resistance but with slightly more carbon than AUS-8, it will sharpen up and hold an edge better.
G10 Handles
G10 Handles
Formed in a sheet under high pressure by combining fiberglass and an epoxy resin binder. These handles are lightweight and shaped to ensure a solid grip.

Pros: Handle Material, Overall Quality, Lock Ease of Use, Handle Feel, Ease of Opening, Blade Sharpness
Cons: None
Overall very nice. Razor sharp out of box. No blade play at all. Perfect fit for my medium sized hands. It is a little heavy but to be expected for a steel frame. I like the cool looking pocket clip it rides high off the handle so it shred your pockets but it creates a little of a hot spot. However I don't think it will noticeable in EDC use.

This knife is a monster
Wow, the pictures don't truely capture the craftsmanship that went into this knife. IKBS opens smooth and with little effort. Never again will I purchase a flipper without ball bearings. Comfortable to use and yes, it kinda does feel like a dinosaur. The serrations are awesome and the liner/more like frame lock is tight and doesn't hurt to use when closing. Great knife, Especially for the price!! Beats out most all of my other more expensive folders.

Great Knife
This is a great CRKT knife! It opens smoothly, with little effort, and unlike the ripple you can firmly grip it when opening it. The texture provides a very positive grip at all times. The aesthetic is definitely appealing. It's large enough to feel quite solid in my hand yet, small enough that I carry it as part of my EDC. In full disclosure, I tend to wear clothing with larger pockets so your mileage may vary.
