CR6860: Ignitor™ T - Titanium Nitride Blade, Black Scales, Razor-Sharp Cutting Edge
Columbia River

CRKT describes this item as follows:

This series is ready to start a big bang, with OutBurst™ opening, Fire Safe™ actuation, layered G10 scales, and optional Veff™ Serrations.

We hope to ignite your passion for high-tech folders with this new knife series. That’s why we call it the Ignitor™. It raises the bar for all value-priced folders, by using premium blade steel, layered G10 scales, and patented features including assisted opening, a unique knife safety and our special serrations. We challenge you to find a knife of this quality for the money. Consider these features:

First the blade. It’s a modifed drop point design with a high hollow grind. We use premium 8Cr14MoV stainless steel. You have your choice of a Razor-Sharp edge or combination Razor-Sharp edge with our patented(1) Veff™ Serrations, which are superior for fast cutting of cord, netting and vegetation.

The frame uses our rigid InterFrame build with stainless steel liners, one locking, and layered G10 scales, textured and CNC machined to aid grip. The deep finger choil and pommel fit the hand nicely. The flat cross-section makes for comfortable in-pocket carry.

The true breakthrough is our ability to combine our patented(2) OutBurst™ assisted opening with the patent-pending(3) Fire Safe™ mechanism. When closed, the blade is safely locked by the Fire Safe pin. It cannot be opened until the safety button on the end of the thumb stud is firmly depressed and the thumb stud is nudged outward. Then the blade springs open instantly for use. Yes, this is a design for right-hand opening, but it is the best integration of folder safety and fast access that we have ever seen in a sport and work folder.

All models include a removable stainess steel clip.

Ignitor™ T. This Ignitor is offered in a tactical color scheme. The blade receives a non-reflective dark gray titanium nitride coating, which provides maximum corrosion protection. The “T" models feature black G10 scales.

So that’s the Ignitor story. Did you feel a spark? If not, get down to your favorite retailer and put one in your hand.

ok every day knife
To start with I abuse knives regularly using them for purposes they were not intended for. I have had 2 of the Ignitor plain edge in the last two years or so, (the first fell about 100 feet on to granite bolders and wasn't happy after), and have carried it on a daily basis. Pros: smallish profile (my other edcs include Benchmade Osborne 940 combo blade, a Kershaw Cyclone assist removed, and a Ontario RAT 1 folder they are all carried to accompany a Leatherman wave. Ya ya i carry alot of crap). The Ignitor fits well in the pocket. The thumb stud blade release in my house was the deal breaker I have a toddler running around who doesn't have the thumb or finger strength or coordination to open the knife. Blade length to handle length is great in my opinion and it holds an edge ok. From my experience it does baton well even using a claw hammer to drive it through the wood (GASP. . . if i wasn't clear before I void warranties). Also with previous experience with assisted opening knives (Kershaw mainly) I love the heft to the assist spring you won't have to worry about it breaking on you unless you do some serious damage to the knife to start with. Cons: The only real cons I have on this knife are the edge retention, carry options and left hand compatibility. The knife will as I stated before hold a usable edge for a reasonable time frame however I would personally like to see a 154cm variation or even a 1095 carbon version ("oh no it will rust and fall apart". It will corrode however with proper care it will be just fine and will hold a great edge imho). As far as carry option you only have one (I know bummer) it would be nice to be able to change the pocketclip to be on either side or either end of the knife (and maybe a lefty model as the blade retention feature allows for only a single sided thumb stud). Over all: For the price in my opinion its a winner hands down and I would recommend this knife for an edc blade (check local laws with assisted opening knives).
