Cons: Finish
CR GB 5.5" is a REMARKABLE Knife
This knife is the ideal size for fighting or dressing animals from feral hogs to squirrels. It cuts through flesh with surgical accuracy and the partially serrated blade does fast work on joints and tough thick hog sternum. The CPM S35VN steel in this heavy blade has REMARKABLE cross grain impact resistance. You can literally drive it through wood or bone with a mallet without cracking or bending this heavy duty knife. I prefer uncoated knives, but the K-G Gunkote is remarkably tough and resilient. BLOOD and even GREASE wash out of the Foliage Green Canvas Micarta handle with Simple Green and water (10:1 dilution) much to my delightful surprise. I prefer the old Foliage Green sheath that is no longer available from Spec-Ops, but the Coyote Tan sheath from my 7" CR GB is woven into the left Molle strap of my Coyote Tan Blackhawk hydration pack and will accommodate either knife well. I carry the 5.5" model just about every day in a custom Kydex non-marring sheath that is made by C4 Industries. Along with the CR Ti-Lock in my back pocket, you just can't beat it. Chris Reeve Knives service department is simply the best and VERY accommodating. My 7" knife was re-coated and sharpened FREE after I tested it chopping wood for kindling and BONE. They were supposed to charge me by the letter of their warranty, but did not, at their discretion. I HIGHLY recommend CR knives and this one in particular. If I can take only one knife with me when I bug out, it would be this knife.

Great Knife
I bought this knife to carry in the war. I had a swamp rat that was just way too big, so I got this to use. It is the perfect size, and very light. It is one tough knife! I have split wood blocks with it, pried open doors, cleaned fish, cut off turtle heads, and even used it in the kitchen. Mine didn't come extremely sharp, but I made it so with a little work. Its been three years since I came back from the war and this knife still sees use all the time with outdoor adventures. It works very well as a general purpose outdoor knife, but in my opinion, it is possibly the best military knife ever made. The sheath is the best I have ever used. It is so versatile and incredibly tough. I used it strapped on my safari land 6004 for a while, then on my left shoulder commando carry and it worked great either place.
