Description
CRM1614Z: M16-14Z - Designed by Kit Carson
CRKT

For years, Kit Carson's M16® designs have been our most popular series. And our Z version has built the largest user base of all. These knives are built for function, not fad. And they are exceptional values.

The hefty M16®-04Z and M16®-14Z Big Dogs offer larger dual grind Tanto-style blades. These are full-size working knives suited to large hands and heavy-duty tasks.

They use our very successful InterFrame construction, tough, textured glass filled nylon scales over a 420J2 stainless steel liner InterFrame. We overbuild it for rigidity, using solid glass filled nylon back spacers. And we assemble the handle with superior offset Torx® fasteners. The handle is exceptionally rigid and fills the hand perfectly.

We use our tough AUS 8 high-carbon stainless steel for the blades to give greater everyday utility, and offer both Razor-Sharp and Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point™ Serrated edges.

All models feature the Carson Flipper, which is not only an aid to opening the blade, especially when wearing gloves, but acts as a blade guard when the blade is open.

We've also incorporated our patented* AutoLAWKS™ automatic knife safety into all models, which converts the M16 Z series into virtual fixed blades when their blades are open and locked.

All styles have lubrous washers and a removable stainless steel clothing/gear clip.

Think of the M16-Z as a Clydesdale—ready to rush a knight into battle or pull a beer wagon. Every day. Day after day.

Cons: None
Best knife I've ever owned (as a knife enthusiast, Eagle Scout)
I am a huge fan of the M16 series to begin with, but this is by far my favorite product they make. While this particular model is not for everyone because of its large size, I have big hands, and use it for big jobs, so it's perfect for me. Smaller hands would love my last model, the M16-12Z The blade is quick to open with the "Carson Flipper", and with a little practice in using the "Auto-Lawks" system, easy to close. I've heard some negative feedback about the extra step in closing this knife, but when you've had a folding knife malfunction and nearly cut your fingers off, the extra safety is worth it. I've outlived two other M16 model knives (1 lost, 1 broken from young stupidity), and have never had a mechanical defect or wearing out of their knives. I would recommend this knife to most people, and those I wouldn't recommend it to, I would instead recommend a smaller model in the M16 series. Razor sharp (and quick to re-sharpen), tough enough for the toughest uses, and CRKT has outstanding customer service and warranty departments. They've really put their heart and soul into this one, and it shows.

Best knife for everyday carry
I have collected blades all throughout my life. This knife is one of the best pocket knives I've ever owned. I carry this everyday and in tactical situations as well. It has held up ever since the first day I received it. A few government agencies and military issue this as their standard EDC (Everyday Carry) pocket knife for a good reason. This bad boy can handle anything you throw at it. The Auto LAWKS system is really great too.

CRKT M16-14Z
I spent a lot of time comparing different knives. This knife came as advertised with Knife Center and among other reviews. Very sturdy knife, opens great, locks well. Highly recommend this knife. Knife Center was great to deal with as well.
