Description
CS10AXC: 10AXC Counter Point XL
Cold Steel

When Cold Steel began to develop a new series of tactical folding knives there was one aim in mind; to take the knowledge gleaned from our many years of experience in creating some of the world's finest boot knives and refine it into a truly formidable folder. The Counter Point series represents the culmination of that research and development.

Available in three blade sizes (3", 4" and 6") their stiletto inspired spear point blades have a distinctively pronounced false edge and a lustrous satin finish, combining to make a blade that not only looks great, but delivers a show stopping performance! Cutting and piercing with equal ease, the Counter Point is both a functional and attractive EDC (Every Day Carry) knife and a steadfast resource in any rescue or emergency situation.

The expertly designed handle simply has to be felt to be believed. Lightweight, but incredibly strong – made from GRIV-EX, a super plastic pioneered by Cold Steel, and reinforced with heat treated aluminum liners – the handle is comfortable and secure in almost any grip imaginable! Strong, light, versatile, concealable and above all functional, the Counter Point series takes the best features of a quality boot knife and redefines the potential of a high performance folder.

The Counter Point XL raises the stakes even higher! Providing enormous bang for the buck, the giant Counter Point XL looms over many of our competitor's meager offerings. With 6" of razor sharp, needle tipped Japanese AUS8A steel and our world renowned TRI-AD lock, it's a huge knife, condensing a vast amount of cutting power into a surprisingly lightweight, comfortable and concealable package.

perfect blade !
This blade is huge but light. Opening is smooth and easy. I'm a serration fan so I grabbed my diamond file and added a perfect serration. >f your not good with file work , I would not advise using this blade for practice.

Too much of a good thing?
This is a really BIG folder, the photo's don't do it justice. It is like the already stout 4" version, but scaled up in all dimensions. Some of the other Cold Steel "XL" series with 6" blades (TiLite) are inherently thin designs, stiletto like, so they get longer in the XL size, but not bigger. Not so with this beast! It's long and wide and thick. For me at least it does answer the question: how big is too big? It fit's in my jeans pocket, but borders on uncomfortable. I gave it a "4" because it just doesn't handle that well. The thumb stud is small and doesn't really provide enough leverage for opening the massive blade. The spine lock is very positive, but difficult to disengage - requiring two thumbs. And when it unlocks the momentum of the heavy blade swinging closed can bring the edge in contact with your fingers if you are not careful. My overall impression is that to build a great knife this size a few things needed to be rethought and redeisgned from the other Counterpoint models. This might have resulted in something that was different. For instance the stud words well on smaller blades but a spyderco style hole might be better on this large a knife. Instead Cold Steel went with a pure scale-up. Fit and finish is excellent, especially when one considers the price. It's a great value at $75 and seems very solidly built. The handle material is one of the nicest composites I've seen. This knife makes more sense to me as something to put in a survival kit or tackle box, than as an EDC. For me it answers the question "how big is too big" in a tactical folder- Which alone may make it a worthwhile addition to your collection.

The Counter Point XL Is Here!!!
This is for all of my fellow "Mega Folder" Lovers, The Counter Point (CP) XL was the last CP that I needed to complete my Collection of CP's. And, it does not disappoint. This is a "Big" CP. It feels super heavy-duty like the XL Voyager and Rajah I & II Series of Heavy-Duty Folders. In fact, I'd say that it feels even more heavy-duty than my Tanto Voyager XL. This feels like a blade that was intended for "Combat." If it had a "Black DLC Finish" it would be a really nice "Tactical/Combat Folder." I know this Series is supposed to be based on the Cold Steel (CS) Counter Tac; but, this Series is more similar to an "Italian Style Folding Stiletto or Switchblade of the 1950's, if you ask me, as far as styling is concerned... This is a Stiletto Style "Mega" Folder on Growth Hormones and Steroids... :) Mine, was delivered to my home, by the KnifeCenter.com, in perfect condition. I own almost all of the CS Tri-Ads and this one is one of the most perfect one's that I ever have purchased. Fit and finish are perfect. Mine has no gritty feeling with the lock-bar and opens and closes perfectly, like it should. Quality Control was high on this run, if the rest are as perfect as mine. This is the most stout "Self-Defense (SD)" Folding Stiletto Style Knife that I've ever held; it's awesome... This will be a "Collector" or "Zombie Apocalypse" Knife for me. It's "Big," and I will not be using this one as an EDC Knife; the "Large" size CP 1 is more to my liking as an SD/EDC option, due to it's smaller size. But, for me, this is a must have. And, if you like CS "Mega Folders," this one's for you, too... Peace, Stiletto :)
