Description
CS27TLCTH: CTS-XHP Recon 1 Tanto 50/50 Edge
Cold Steel

Cold Steel is famous for raising the bar in the knife industry and the Recon 1 tactical folders are setting a standard that's hard to beat. Why? Because they are as tough as nails and will cut like a chain saw! Every facet of their construction has been over engineered to make them as strong, durable and effective as humanly possible. The blades on this special run model are made from CTS-XHP stainless steel with a black DLC coating. Carpenter powdered steels like XHP offer an elevated amount of carbon that appreciably improves edge retention and strength. The handles feature G-10 laminate scales artfully contoured and scalloped for a terrific non slip grip. Plus, they are held together by the latest in high strength mechanical fasteners and further anchored by a 6061 heat-treated spacer. To compliment their super tough blades and handles they are equipped with the revolutionary Tri Ad lock, which practically precludes lock failure. To make the Recon 1 as easy to open and carry as possible, each knife is equipped with a thumb disc and small extra strong pocket clip. This clip is completely ambidextrous so lefties please take note. What's more its small size doesn't abrade or irritate the palm under protracted use.

Thin, light, sharp and incredibly tough, the Recon 1 is willing and able to aid you on your next mission!

cold steel 27TLCTH Recon 1 Tanto 4" CTS-XHP
Cold Steel's Recon 1 series is designed well and manufactured with moderate quality steel which is usually AUS 8A . This new premium CTS - XHP alloy steel puts the recon 1 series above many of it's competitors with premium edge retention and the ability to be sharpened to the finest edge of any blade i have held. Before getting a knife with the new carpenter steel you must research it to be able to really appreciate it. There is little to be said about the cons of the 27TLCTH however as with any recon 1 series knife the triad locking system is very stiff when it is brand new and the easy of opening takes some getting used too but with a bit of use and after its first clean and oil its much smoother so i recommend cleaning and oiling it as soon as possible. The G10 handle has a slightly rough feel to it which feels amazing. The weight of the knife is perfectly balanced and the serrations are uniquely different to many other knives but maintain a needle like edge with moderate use. In conclusion this knife has a good look with a rugged feel and is extremely reliable, but a part of me feels this quality of steel deserves a better look of elegance to it.

Our son loved it.
This was a Christmas gift to our son, an officer in the Marines. He had it on his list and was so excited to get it. He said it was everything he expected it to be. I don't know how to explain in detail what he liked about it but do know that he researched the knife prior to putting it on his list and was pleased with the actual product.

WOW !
Daily User Knife. WICKED SHARP !!!! It's a big knife. If your looking to pull this from your pocket and open it with one hand - you need big hands. The clip is good and strong but it needs some bending and manipulating to be able to slide over the edge of your pocket. Cold Steel could should look at the clip on a Buck Redpoint. Great handle and feel. It's a relatively heavy knife but I personally like that. Excellent knife. Love buying from Knife center.
