CS29TXV: Vaquero Voyager Ex. Large Plain Edge
Cold Steel

The KnifeCenter considers the Vaquero series of folders from Cold Steel to be among the best knives produced over the last 20 years. The Voyager series in general are well designed and very well made and any Voyager will serve the user well for many years. Materials are all very good and the action and lockups are fast and solid. The Vaquero series, though, is especially suited to very quick slicing or tearing. The shape of the blade makes this knife a very effective slicer.

Cold Steel says:"The Vaquero Voyager Series folders all feature our distinctive "S-Curve" clip point blade style. They are precision flat ground to form a long, shallow "V" shaped cross section. This is ideal for shearing through thick, fibrous materials such as manila rope, cable, hose, belts, etc. The serrated edges form a sinuous double curve. This means that whatever material is struck with the inward curving portion of the edge (near the hand) will automatically force the remaining curved edge entirely through.

These strong, handsome folders deliver an unequalled fit and finish. They are carefully machined and hand fitted by master craftsmen who take great pride in their work. Feel the power of the massively strong locking mechanisms as you thumb one of these blades open. The deeply checkered, and ergonomically designed Zytel® handles are cleverly reinforced with enough rigidity, strength, and toughness to virtually last a lifetime. Double thumb studs on each side of the razor sharp blade allow you to open these folders with either hand in the blink of an eye.

For convenience, a black stainless steel pocket clip is included. This allows for safe and secure carry in any environment."

Cold Steel Ex. Large Voyager Vaquero
This thing is a beast of a knife. I'll be honest it almost looks cartoonish. The success of any product knife or otherwise depends on the parameters you set for it when you purchased it. I would be sorely disappointed if I planned on carrying this to bury in my pocket and open a few letters with it. I wanted a very big, razor sharp tough as nails knife, this is it to a tee. It rides in the right front pocket and is astonishingly light for it's size. In my left front pocket is a Blackhawk Be-Wharned that I also purchased from Knife Center. Both are top quality. The Voyager Vaquero got delivered beyond shaving sharp, more like bragging rights sharp. I couldn't be happier.

everything every other review said is accurate but id like to add somthing noone touched on as far as use. the "s" shaped blade actually makes this knife great at field dressing large game ( deer bear etc). i realize it may be a bit "tactical" looking for old school hunters but anyone that carries a medium or large fixed blade for skinning should consider this as an alternative. save precious pack space carry a extremely strong folder! plus . . . . blade steel is decent . lock up is excellent and resharpening is easy. not to mention its fifty dollars. def worth it. one downside is its made in taiwan but if you can look past that u have a great knife
