The Kukri blade, with its markedly downward curved blade, has long been identified with the Gurkha Warriors of Nepal, the ferocious mercenaries who have wielded this blade for over 150 years in the service of the British Empire.

The Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri was inspired by Cold Steel President, Lynn C. Thompson's close association with Dr. Maung Gyi, chief instructor of the American Bando Association, and a renowned martial artist with wide-ranging knowledge and skills. Under Dr. Gyi's tutelage, Lynn gained insight into the full potential of the Kukri and learned it was not just a chopping weapon but a piercing, slashing, and smashing weapon as well. Smashing techniques allow the Kukri to function as a hammer or mallet or to deliver non-lethal blows in a self-defense role. A concentrated blow with the back of the blade can break bones or be lethal if directed at the head.

With Dr. Gyi's input, Thompson designed a longer, narrower point for the Gurkha Kukri with more distal tapering to the spine. This resulted in a thinner, sharper point which can be deeply driven into thick, tough targets with minimal effort.

Finally a masterfully designed Kraton handle was added to maximize the blade's fierce potential. Perfectly contoured and deeply checkered, it offers a superb non-slip grip and cushions the hand from the shock of the hardest blow.

Each Gurkha Kukri is supplied with a Secure-Ex® sheath to protect the blade and allow you to wear it safely and securely on your side always ready to defend you and your loved ones.

Gurkha Kukri Plus:
With integral guard for added security when blocking or parrying.

Think twice before buying it
When I purchased this knife and took it out of the box, i was astound how thick and massive this kukri is. It looks really great, it has a good balance and comfortable grip, but i agree, that this particular knife is completely insecure. Even dangerous for a user in a survival situations. 1) remove the pin and take the handle away. You will see very thin "rat-tail" tang inside, it is thinner than a pinky finger. While chopping into a large log, it's very easy to break something like that. Very easy. Google for Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri tang, take a look on the Natchez Bowie tang also. The steel itself is very low quality. It is cheap, it's definitely worser than SK-5 or SAN-MAI steel, used in previous versions. In combination with a poor tang it's a suicide knife. I think it is a cost-saving politics in process. I hardly recommend you to buy something much more cheaper made from 1095 steel. It doest chip, it holds the edge, it's three or four times cheaper.

WEAKEST KNIFE EVER
This is my second O1 steel gurkha kukri. The first one was returned for a refund.and then I bought a second one thinking it would be better...But I was wrong... This is the weakest knife I have ever used. I used this knife for light chopping trough soft wood, and the factory edge rolled and dented alot.it actually looked like ive been hitting stones with it. .I resharpened it several times, and found that I had to strop it at an insane angle to get rid of the burr after sharpening. 80 degrees pr side,160 degrees total was necessery to get rid of the burr.THATS HOW SOFT IT WAS. My second kukri: I have not used it yet, because when I inspected it,I imediately found that the knife was grinded very uneven on the right side. And not just the edge, but the entire flat grind from spine to edge and from tip to handle.the knife weighs 601grams wich is the same as the regular kukri, and this one should weigh atleast 20grams moore, and that weight was lost from extremely uneven grinding on the entire right side of the blade. As if that wasnt bad enough, I could bend the edge with my finger nail!!!and wisually notice the edge getting duller after only a few paper cuts..That is completely unacceptable from cold steel "worlds strongest knives" And from knifecenter who promised me an inspected kukri, and where supposed to give me the nicest, thickest and most heavy kukri that they got. It was obvius that this knife had not been inspected before shipping, and It should never have goone past quality control.

Lovely but didn't keep
This is a great piece but I didn't keep it. I'd ordered it to bring on my next trip to the Amazon jungle as I wanted a smaller but powerful carry tool. It's an extraordinary piece: great build, fantastic sheath, wicked blade and excellent materials. It was just too heavy for the size of the blade. I wound up taking a Magnum Kukri which is a few inches longer, but still not an 18 inch machete, lighter and more balanced for ease of use. The Gurkha Kukri is much nicer with superior build and materials all around.
