Cons: None
Great knife!
This beast is a work horse. Thick 0-1 steel with a wicked sharp edge! Handle is comfortable and provides a secure grip even in wet situations. Sheath is good quality and provides a secure lock-up. Only thing I'd like to see on this is a solid steel pommel, but a highly recommended knife regardless.

It's OK.Maybe a bit overpriced.
I'll get straight to it.In my 3 years owning the RS,i have found that the 2 things it does best,is chopping and batoning wood.Everything else it does average.I feel as though the blade is too thick, and would make for a much better all around knife if the RS was a .25 inch thick, instead of 5/16 thick..With that said,if you are looking for a knife that chops and batons well, the RS is for you..But,if you are looking for a more well rounded fixed blade around this size, look at an Esee 6...While the Esee 6 can't baton or chop wood as good as the RS,it will be better at everything else..Actually if it's CS you want, the Master Hunter is by far the most practical knife they offer, followed by the SRK..While neither can chop/baton like the RS,BOTH are better all around knives..

AND THE EDGE GOES TO.....?
The top "pros" for the Recon Scout are it's out of the box sharpness, handle material, & well designed sheath. That being stated, there are other quality knives available that are less expensive such as the Ontario Gen II SP 45, or one from the Ka-Bar line. In particular the SP 45 has a longer, effective, cutting area. -- I already have the Trail Master, SRK, Recon Scout, and Master Hunter, all in Carbon V steel. The newer Recon Scout is a usable blade, and if someone wants to pay for the Cold Steel name that's their prerogative.
