CS54FBT: Mackinac Hunter with Thumb Studs
Cold Steel
Mackinac Hunter

Whether you're running a trap line in Michigan's Upper Peninsula or riding fences in the Texas Pan Handle, you're sure to appreciate the rugged handsomeness and extreme performance offered by our Mackinac (pronounced: MAC-IN-NAW) Hunter. It's built tough enough to handle the extremes of the workplace and weather, and innocuous and unobtrusive enough to carry every day.

The hollow ground blade sports a substantial spine for strength, a thumb stud or nail nick for carrying convenience, and a robustly sharp clip point that shrugs off abuse that would destroy a lesser blade. It's housed in a stainless steel frame with massive pivot pins and features Cold Steel's renowned Tri-Ad® lock. And, the attractive grip is adorned with striking faux stag that will never fade, crack, warp or splinter.

The Mackinac Hunter comes with ambidextrous pocket clips and also available is a stout black leather belt sheath.

Pros: Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness, Blade Material, Handle Feel, Weight, Ease of Opening, Lock Type
Cons: Handle Material, Pocket Clip, Lock Ease of Use, None
This a knife with heft. I have large hands and I have tried a lot of folders. I would rate this knife on a par with a Buck 110 Hunter. While I would give the nod to Buck overall, I was extrely impress with the lock on this knife. It is not easy to close initially and I have the nicks to prove it. On the other hand I saw a review of this product, where a person suggested oening the knife half way and leave it at a 90 degree angle overnight to relax the spring a little. That worked for me , I have no problem closing it now and it is a dependable lock on the blade when open. I hate pocket clips in general, but this one was bearable.

Excellent knife
Really well built. Strong. Solid lock (though tough to unlock, common with cold steel). Sharp. Yes, the handle looks more fake in person than in the picture. I much prefer the fake handle myself! This knife is more impressive in person than pictured. Very happy with it.
