Description
CS88CSAB: 88CSAB 1917 Frontier Bowie
Cold Steel

From its huge imposing blade to its handsome rosewood handle, every inch of our Frontier Bowie screams perfection! The tempered carbon steel blade begs to be used and the sheath looks and feels absolutely awesome. This is a beautiful package in both the collection and the hard use categories.

Almost sword-like in its cutting and thrusting performance, the Frontier Bowie features a wide, wickedly keen hand-sharpened blade with a generous clip and huge fuller. Made from 1055 Carbon Steel, it is heat treated to a hard spring temper and beautifully blued to a lustrous finish. Its blade is both long and stiff enough to oppose even much larger weapons, while wide and sharp enough to make the most of every opportunity to cut, thrust and deliver a "palpable hit".

The Frontier Bowies handle is a perfect accompaniment to its battle-ready blade. Its big "S" shaped guard offers excellent hand protection while the slim, flat profile stops it from twisting in your hand and keeps your edge alignment true even in the heat of combat. Its modified pistol grip also keeps the knife locked safely in your hand even when utilizing a palm reinforced grip for extended reach and leverage in the thrust.

To further compliment this exceptional knife, Cold Steel has created a high quality leather sheath with a blued steel throat and chape. Its swiveling leather belt frog is wide enough to accommodate even a thick military belt and fully detachable to allow you to slide the knife into your belt for a more traditional carry.

This versatile knife is suitable for historical re-enactment groups from the 1830’s onwards, Cowboy Action Shooters, civil war re-enactors and even modern Military groups. This truly battle ready blade is ready for any adventure, so whatever your Frontier, make sure that you have a Cold Steel Frontier Bowie by your side!

Please Note: These do come a little rough from Cold steel. There is a heavy coat of oil on the blade, grind lines are not perfect from time to time and the wood handles vary in wood grain and color hue. There may be slight imperfections in this piece.

Pros: Handle Material, Weight, None
Cons: Sheath/Scabbard, Finish, Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness
good
I am a great fan of CS knives so I was a little disappointed when I saw this knife. It was totally unsharpened (no problem to sharpen with my Worksharp bought here) and rivets on sheath are made in iron and was badly rusted ( it take a lot of oil and one hour of hard work to restore). The sheath is well made and the knife is beautiful. Handle is comfortable. Overall a good knife but can be made a lot better

A great bowie from Cold Steel
This is a very nice large bowie, with great balance and a wonderful heft. it'll make a great chopper and a very good cutter and also has a very businesslike and utilitarian look without decoration or frills. Overall a great knife and a good purchase, with the second lowest price on the internet!

well...
well... mine came in less then perfect condition. The blade was scratched the scabbard had rust on the rivets and it was not that sharp. But other than that it is a good blade, just wish it would not have been handled so poorly.
