Huge freaking machete
This thing is huge! There will be no unobtrusive lashing or tucking of this into your pack. Its over a foot taller than my 5,000 cu. In. Internal frame pack. And looks just like the wicked chopping tool / weapon it is!The two handed panga machete is a very effective tool. It comes with a dull "lawyer" edge. 5 min with a carbide sharpener followed by a light deburring with a diamond stone and this thing zips right through 3/4" saplings and branches as well as thin free hanging vines with equal effort. This machete held its edge well until I accidently hit a chain link fence with the edge. There was no chipping of the edge only dulling. The edge was easilly resharpened. Workmanship was adequate. The start of the edge from the handle was 1/2" appart on different sides of the blade. Other than that the edge was ground reasonably symetrical. There was an especially dull spot at the tip of the blade. Shelf wear from rattling against the rivets in other handles was evident on my sample's handle around the rivets. The sheath fits well but made no provision for lashing.
