Pros: Lock Type, Handle Feel, Overall Quality, Weight, Ease of Opening, None
Cons: Blade Sharpness, Lock Ease of Use, Handle Material
Not for surgical procedures
I have owned this knife for seven years. This knife is certainly tough. It is a stiff blade that does not hold an edge well at all, but it really shines under thankless work, such as opening bags of cement, scoring drywall, punching holes in coffee cans for camp stoves; hard work that you wouldn't expect a sharp edge for anyway. The handle is strong but the rubber scales will flap open from the handle. It wasn't hard to replace them with some .112 G-10. Much better feel now. The lock is solid, but being in the end of the handle, it takes some getting used to; it won't fail though. It won't rust even in my pocket when I'm surf-fishing, there are just little spots of rust that buff right off. Great tacklebox/toolbox knife. It is kind of a pain to sharpen. It seems the grain of the steel just doesn't want to stand up no matter how you bevel the blade. Definitely purchase several ceramic rods of varying fineness to hone off the burr, because the steel in this knife makes burrs regardless of my beveling tools, whether diamond or Arkansas. All in all it's a great edc or for the shop shelf, but in an emergency or survival situation, get something else made from a good high speed tool steel.
