Pros: Locking, None
Cons: Overall Quality, Finish, Materials
Not as expected.
I work in the film & tv industry and have been carrying a Leatherman Wave and a small Spyderco folder for the longest time....realising that I use more of the knife and screw driver features as opposed to the pliers tool these days, I thought the EDC2 with Emerson wave opener will be useful... Also, i felt that the multi-tool feature will be less obtrusive as opposed to whipping out a spyderco to cut open boxes/packages, gaffer tapes, cable ties, etc.. (you know the attention created from whipping out a swiss army knife vs tactical folder for daily cutting task is just different....) Given the reason for my purchase of the EDC2, I was a bit disappointed to be frank when I received it. It weighed just a tad lighter than the Leatherman Wave, and the dimensions aren't exactly more compact too. It's not as thin and as short as I hoped it to be. It looks super heavy duty, but the build & quality seemed lacking for a product of this price. The metal edges of the tool are rough, the screw drivers' opening swivel & locking mechanism doesn't feel as smooth, and the blade tool is just a tad too loose in my opinion. For the price of this EDC2, if I have to choose another multitool for everyday carry, it'll still be a leatherman. I'd try on this tool for a few weeks and see how it goes. The only thing I like currently is that the Wave needed a pouch, and the EDC2 uses a belt clip. The Emerson Wave opening feature is also a plus point for quick deployment of the blade.
