ET1005ORG: nanoStriker Ultra-Portable Fire Starter

We set out to create a product that is high quality, ultra-small in size and completely self-contained. The nanoSTRIKER is the result. Sacrificing neither form nor function, its unique all-in-one design puts all the tools you need to start a fire into one tiny package. At the end of the day, this little tool can be collapsed and returned to key-chain ballast duty.

The striker contains an ultra-sharp tungsten carbide insert for maximum sparks.

Ferrocerium fire starters work best with tinder materials that contain large surface areas: dry grasses, wood shavings, cotton balls, dry leaves, clothing lint, etc. Using a tinder material of your choosing, create a loose tinder bundle to catch the sparks from the ferro rod. Wrap the included lanyard around a few fingers to secure the striker handle. Holding the striking tool at an angle, use moderate pressure to quickly scrape the rod. The striker should be carving material off the ferrocerium rod.

Cons: Overall Quality, Ease of Use
Won't spark
Don't understand why this thing won't work, when I run the striker against the rod it just scrapes bits off and never produces a spark. The tiny striker is also very difficult to grip properly. Completely worthless.

Excellent lightweight stowable fire starter
First off, this is not my go to fire starter. Although, I've used it to start dozens of fires and have never had an issue with it not sparking. This is a tool that I can carry in a small emergency fire kit. The ferro rod does loosen up a bit, but you just screw it back in and it's good to go(It's replaceable). I don't believe the people who gave the negative reviews don't understand it's purpose.

can't get a spark
No matter how hard I try I can't get a spark with the striker included. I did get some sparks with the striker from my light my fire ferro rod but not very many. I've tried everything with the exotac striker and I just CAN NOT get a spark. Still though it's a cool little piece of gear and I didn't spend an arm and a leg so with all that in mind I'm still happy to have it in my collection of gear and toys but as far a practicality and it actually working well and being able to rely on it I'd have to say no. I will give it one good point though it dose seem to be pretty rugged but again how much dose that do if if it dosen't work. That's my two cents take it or leave it.
