FSQPLAE: Quark Pro CR123A Gen 2 Cool White LED
The second generation XP-G LED lights are 20% brighter on all output levels while maintaining the same runtimes as previous models.

The Quark series offers a staggering array of options, accessories and interchangeability. With a wide range of LED, battery and clip choices, you get the features you want without compromise. Available in a Pro multi-mode interface or a Tactical interface with programmable primary and secondary outputs, these lights can be used in a wide variety of settings and applications. Waterproof and constructed with aircraft-grade aluminum and impact-resistant lenses, Quark lights are tough enough to meet any challenge.

Note: The clip on the Quark Pro QPL is permanent and cannot be removed or reversed.

Operating your Quark Pro 123 is simple. Make sure its batteries are inserted with the positive side (+) toward the head. Ensure the bezel (the 'head' of the light) and tailcap are tightened, then depress the tailcap button fully so that it 'clicks' and the light turns on.

The two most commonly used modes are Max and Moonlight, the highest and lowest modes. To access Max, you simply tighten the bezel. To access Moonlight, you just loosen the bezel a half-turn. That's it.

You can also cycle through the Quark's other modes just as easily. Lightly depress the button momentarily (you don't need to 'click' it off) and the output will switch to the next mode. The mode sequence is determined by whether the bezel is tightened or loosened:

Loosened Bezel: Moonlight -> Low -> Medium -> High -> SOS -> Beacon

Tightened Bezel: Max -> Strobe

Once the Quark has been turned off for at least three seconds, it will revert to the first level of output in the sequence, either Moonlight or Max.

great little light
Owned for about 3 weeks. The FOURSEVENS QPL is pretty much what I wanted/needed in a light. I did do some research into lights before purchasing, so this wasn't a blind purchase. For a light-use (and maybe even medium-use) EDC (everyday carry) it is perfect for me. Most of my use happens in the stock room where I work (medium level), or when I really need something illuminated to see clearly (high or max level). I also use it when I'm half-asleep and walking around my apartment at night (usually to the kitchen where I use the moonlight level). I chose a Pro UI over the Tactical UI because I like the versatility of being able to switch to all the light modes and levels without having to reprogram it. It does lack momentary activation (with a soft click) as well as mode memory (it doesn't remember which mode you left off on from your last use, so it will always start on moonlight or max), but that was a sacrifice I was willing to make. The wide range of brightness levels is excellent for a civilian EDC role. I never use the special modes (SOS, beacon, strobe), but it may come in handy if an emergency occurs some day. I haven't had it long enough to go through a battery yet, but I also do not use it too often. If you do intend on using it very often, the 2xCR123 may be a better option. The size is fine for me because I have smaller hands and can use it one-handed without any problems. The durability so far is great. It rides in my back pocket or cargo pocket depending on which pants I'm wearing, and gets banged against things all the time. I've also dropped it on hard surfaces like tile floors and sidewalks a few times from a height of about 2 feet up to 4-4.5 feet, and it shows no signs of damage to functionality. The clip is nice and tight, so as long as nothing drastic happens, you probably won't lose it. HOWEVER, the light does NOT carry deep at all. The entire emitter head carries outside of a pocket. I actually almost lost it once because it got knocked around and was hanging from my pocket halfway off the clip. Thankfully, the clip is excellent.
