FT0002: Classic 2
The Morakniv Classic has been developed by Mora of Sweden for over a century, and has been utilized by generations of carpenters and wood carvers. The tradition can be explained by the knives – with their classic red wooden handle – being pleasant to work with and having just the right feel. A reliable knife that has a given place among the tools of a handcrafter. Also used to a great extent by carpenters. Has a blade of carbon steel and a handle of red ochre birch. Comes with a plastic belt sheath.
Carbon Steel Blade:
  • Knife blades of high carbon steel can be hardened to HRC 59-60 giving best possible sharpness to lowest price. Knives made from above mentioned steel grades will after some use achieve a dullish grey finish. However, this will not negatively affect the quality of the blade. On the contrary it will somewhat improve the resistance to corrosion.
  • Blade Length: 4.25" (108 mm)
  • Blade Steel: High Carbon Steel, 59-60HRC
  • Blade Thickness: 2 mm
  • Overall Length: 8.25" (210 mm)
  • Handle Material: Birch Wood
  • Weight: 3.0 oz. (85.7 g)
  • Made in Sweden

Pros: Blade Material, Blade Sharpness, None
Cons: Sheath/Scabbard
Great little skinning knife. Cheap enough to keep one at the house, one in the pack, one in the truck...Sheath kind of sucks but is easily replaced by a custom leather one. Scandi grind is easy to sharpen and keep sharp. I own a half dozen of these knives and will buy more.

Nice inexpensive small game hunting/fishing knife
I've got one of these in a presstoff type sheath, which I wear in the top front shirt pocket of my hunting blouse. Super knife, that I wear like a ball point pen! Works great on sooty grouse, rainbow trout, California quail, & etc., IME. It is also extremely lightweight, and stays strangely sharp. It is not a cheap knife, it is an inexpensive knife--huge difference. The acid test is: if I lost it, I'd immediately buy another. I should have bought half a dozen extras, when I saw them for $5/each on a store counter. To keep this or any knife sharp, it is a fine idea to acquire a Spyderco Tri-Angle sharpener.
