GB1589: Big Rock
Although Bill Harsey originally designed the Big Rock as a hunting knife, it's become a popular choice as an all-purpose, fixed blade camping knife as well. The full-tang, drop-point blade has a fine edge and an ergonomic, glass-filled nylon handle that's covered with a textured rubber overmold. The Big Rock includes a nylon sheath and the lanyard hole at the butt end is compatible with standard 550 nylon cord. Hunting, fishing, camping - it makes no difference, the Big Rock is for the outdoors.

Pros: Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness
Cons: None
Great knife, decent sheath. Razor sharp out of the box. Comfortable in the hand, with a solid feel. Incredible value for the price. I'm going to buy a second one, maybe with the serrations.

Excellent all purpose fixed blade
This is an all around useful mid sized knife. The sheath is OK, I wish there was a little more strap length in front of the snap on the retention strap. It would be faster to unsnap. You almost have to surround the snap with your fingers in a pinching fashion to grip it. The blade steel is surprisingly good quality (440A) for the price point. Harsey designed a winner with this one. Blade shape and thickness are just right for most tasks. I can see this being an EDC fixed blade. Yeah, the handle slabs are a little thin, but that hard rubber stuff gives a good grip and affords unobtrusive carry. I sometimes modify knives and make my own sheaths and it is real easy to experiment with this knife. There are two T10 torx bolts and epoxy holding the handles on. It would be possible to put some extic wood or Micarta handles on this. But just as is from the factory, there's a desirable aesthetic about this knife that is hard to describe. Nice knife! This blade is both utility and tactical.
