Pros: Head Material, Balance, Construction, Weight, Handle Material
Hey ho pip and dandy, sir!
(Based on the same model made by Fiskars.)Imo this is the natural step between a medium knife and an axe. Don't expect too much, thou, the short handle doesn't provide much leverage. But that can also be a good thing; Balance is good, has some heft to it despite the size. All around a handy little axe for smaller jobs. If used to split bigger pices of wood, just use it as a wedge with a handle: Whack it in, then turn the whole package upside down to use the weight from the wood to split it.Found it useful to round off the sharp corners of the edge just a little. Didn't affect cutting performance at all, but helped save my fingers when cold, wet and tired.Carrying it for an extended time is not much of a problem. Yes, it has some weight to it, but at the same time it's small enough to be easy to stove away just anywhere. Also good for hammering, and a lot safer for your pinkie than using the pommel of a knife.Bottom line: Cuts well, handy size, unexpectedly usefull. Hollow handle can be used to store things if you make a plugg for it.
