GB5848: AR 3.0

There comes a time in a guys life when he might start thinking he has too many knives. But when you show him one of these, well, maybe he starts thinking that there's room for one more. After all, the AR 3.0 and 3.5 represent hybrid knife design at its best.

You're looking at the near-perfect combination of strength, balance, ergonomics, minimal weight, and a stylized look that can rightly be described as bad to the bone.

Sure, the AR models are easily opened with one hand. Sure, their mechanics are silky smooth. Sure, the pocket clip is the essence of convenience. And sure, they're built from a caliber of stainless steel that simply commands respect. But what you might not expect is the innovative blend of die-cast aluminum and Softgrip inserts in the handle. To a lot of guys, this is a must-have knife.

Pros: Lock Type, Blade Material, Handle Feel, Ease of Opening, Overall Quality, Weight, Lock Ease of Use, Blade Sharpness
Cons: None
Good EDC Knife
I've been carrying this knife for years. What I like about it is its general usefulness. It was affordable and it's been durable. I removed the clip and filed the aluminum handle material rounder for better pocket carry. After several years a small piece of the rubber grip material came off. Please understand, this is my work knife. It lives a very hard life! The blade has a fairly fine point and it takes and holds a nice edge. If I lost this knife I wouldn't be devastated, but I would order another like it. I've used it for cutting rope, stripping wires and heavy whittling. I don't love this knife, but I wouldn't want to be without it. What more can I say?

Pros: Handle Feel, Weight, None
Cons: Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness, Pocket Clip
I've had this knife for a couple years now. It's good for EDC, and using for work. The pivot screw gets looser every time it is opened. If i tighten it, it will eventually get loose over the next few days. I don't even have to open it properly, all i have to do is jerk the knife a certain way, and it opens as if it was a switchblade. The teflon comes off the blade very easily. This knife is definitely made to be used for work, but its not such a reliable knife for heavy duty purposes.

Pros: Blade Sharpness, Handle Material, Handle Feel, Ease of Opening, Pocket Clip, Weight, Lock Ease of Use, Blade Material
Cons: None
Good pocket knife
Pretty good little knife for EDC purposes. The aluminum handle with inserts is remarkably tough and resistant to damage from being dropped, banged around, etc. Black coating on the blade is durable and doesn't scratch or wear easily.
