Pros: Lock Type, Handle Material, Handle Feel, Blade Sharpness, Blade Material, Ease of Opening, Weight, Lock Ease of Use, Overall Quality
I had never owned a Flipper, nor had I owned a Hogue. I was impressed with the design and the glowing reviews I had read about Hogue in general so I added this knife to my very short list of knives I was considering. I've always been impressed and satisfied with Benchmade but ultimately decided to try something different and am happy that I did.The knife was extremely sharp out of the box. The Flipper design is very intuitive and is executed flawlessly on the EX-02. Lock up is rock solid with absolutely zero blade play. The safety might be a nice feature but really, the blade isnt' going anywhere. The liner lock is well executed and, right at 50%, you will not be disengaging the lock unless you mean to. The location of the choil puts the handle firmly and comfortably in the hand. The jimping on the back of the blade and the flipper is aggressive and functional. The grips are beautiful and look and feel high quality. The blade is simple in its form and is just plain nice to look at. The flipper took about two seconds to get use to and it deploys the blade faster than any knife I've had or held, including spring assist. The skull crusher on the end of the pommel is, well it's a skull crusher, and it's just nice to say. The only thing I would and will change is the clip location. The knife arrived with the clip in the tip up position. This is a very solid clip and in its default position is rather uncomfortable when gripping the handle. A quick change to the point down position (which is how I carry anyway) and it was comfortable to the point where the clip goes unnoticed. Overall, I cannot recommend this knife enough. The price may seem a bit high but the fit and finish absolutely justify it and it is just a very cool looking and functioning knife. KnifeCenter was very helpful and the knife arrived exactly when they said it would.
