DO NOT BUY THIS KNIFE ! Impressive to look at with great materials: that is all. I am a knife user & had great hopes for this one. Tip down being a bad idea I had considered repositioning the clip until I discovered the weak & erratic spring involved. In the pocket, with any slight nudge or bump to the release, it will open approx 1.5" at the tip and hold that position . A nick in the leg told me about it. A mock up & attempt at point up carry would result in worse injury. Imagine shoving your hand in your pocket for change, with the blade open to greet you. I should have seen the sign when in closed position the tip edges out to expose itself & will painfully let you know it has done so. This is a good idea done badly. Would like to have known about the 'relaxed' opening. The ease of opening this knife with a flick of the wrist MAY violate it's legality in California. Sticking with my Benchmade Barrage for now. Owned 3 (keep misplacing them), 2" shorter but hasn't turned on me me yet.I bought on and am working with a machinist to make it useable.1st review not positive so not surprised about not allowed. The facts are this knife is uses high quality materials and is poorly designed. Tip down is because it opens easily IN the pocket. The blade tip is so zero tolerant flush with the case and the spring so erratic and weak that it will work its way out and into your leg. In the right pocket, slightest tap or bump on release and the blade opens approx 1.5 inches. In left pocket and pushed all way back only the tip need be worried about. With machinist, working on point up carry for right pocket by clip to butt at slight angle to push tip into seam and shave an 8th inch off tip angle to fit case better. Actually may allow blade to open as withdrawn from pocket without thumb work. Slight flick of wrist allows for opening that may result in Calif. illegal if pressed by law enforcement.
