JBRELOADERBLK: Reloader Flipper Collaboration
Brous Blades
Introducing The Reloader Flipper, a collaborative design between custom knifemakers Jason Brous and Mikkel Willumsen. The black finished CPM-D2 steel blade features a unique main hollow grind with a flat ground tanto style tip and a thick secondary swedge on each side. The Reloader utilizes an integrated flipper for quick blade deployment on a ball bearing pivot system. The handle scales and backspacer are made from black G-10 with custom milled grooves for a secure and comfortable grip. The titanium liner lock is carbidized with tungsten carbide which provides a harder lock face surface and eliminates stickiness. The knife can be deployed either with the flipper tang or manually with the groove cut out in the blade. With stainless steel hardware and a reversible, deep set, tip up pocket makes this knife a great affordable every day carry blade.

Pros: Blade Sharpness, Pocket Clip, Lock Ease of Use, Handle Material, Blade Material, Handle Feel, Ease of Opening, Overall Quality
Cons: None
One of the most ergonomic designs
This feels and looks in the hand like a fully custom made knife. A 5 rating is rare and it should be. The scalloping in the G-10 may elicit mixed feelings, but once you pick the knife up, you'll find the fit in the hand being excellent, as the tip up carry provides quick access to the flip protrusion on the blade, allowing an instant and very smooth release of the blade, assisted by the ball bearing pivot mechanism. From time to time you may - or may not - need to tighten the pivot with a number 8 Torx driver to center the tip. Other than that there is very little maintenance required. I applied Tuf oil to the bearings after cleaning the interior with spray GunkOut -a solvent to remove any dirt and oil residue, and then wiped the blade with Tuf Cloth - both of these are dry lubricants that go on wet, but dry in about 15 minutes to lay down an invisible non-oily barrier and rust preventer to which lint will not adhere - well, a little. The Reloader is a thoroughly modern design with its complex, yet elegant curves, making for a substantial and workable EDC. Lastly, the workmanship is absolutely perfect, I could not detect any flaws. The fasteners are superb too and the materials are about as good as they get - and I won't get into arguments about which steel is the best. The truth is I don't know. What I do know is that D2 has been used by the top makers for decades and it is a tough and dependable steel that machines and finishes well. I am keeping my eyes on Brous, a seemingly very talented designer of cutting tools...who knows what new stuff he'll come up with? BTW, I have the satin version, not the stonewashed blade...and yes, I would prefer the latter, even though the satin finish is beautiful. The knife is a perfect ergo fit in both normal and hammer positions, so whatever your thing is, it'll punch the holes you need to punch.
