Description
JBSSFOLDER: Silent Soldier Folder
Brous Blades

The Silent Soldier Flipper features a hand-rubbed, satin finished D2 tool steel blade with a Wharncliffe style profile. The blade has a double ground, double swedge. The spine has aggressive thumb jimping and a 7/8" finger hole in the blade for ultimate control with various grip styles. The pivot utilizes a ball bearing system and heat treated pivot and stop pin. The handle has carbon fiber scales, 6al4v titanium liners, pocket clip and skeletonized back spacer and pocket clip.

Note: Because of the design of this knife, the flipper action various from most flippers on the market. The best way to open this knife is by pushing the flipper in like a button, rather than pulling down like a lever. It may take a few trys to get used to but once you understand the way it flips it opens like a dream. For reference you can view the video above and fast forward to 2:00.

Cons: Ease of Opening, Overall Quality, Lock Type
Better pray that nothing goes wrong with your knife.
I picked one of these up when they were new. After only 3 months of EDC and not single thing cut with it, the lock started exhibiting weird behavior, slipping, allowing vertical and slight horizontal blade play. I contacted Mr. Brous and he told me send the knife in to be repaired. It's been over a year now and no sign of my knife. I've contacted Mr. Brous many times concerning this issue. It took about 4 -emails over a month's span to get an answer and when I finally did, he asked me which knife I had sent in!! I told him that it was Silent Soldier flipper and he apologized to me telling me that he would have it in the mail that Monday. After 3 weeks had passed I contacted Mr. Brous again and asked where my knife was - no response. Again, another e-mail - no response. I posted a Facebook message asking where my knife was and it was deleted. I wrote another e-mail message to him asking about my knife - and do you know what he asked me? "What knife?" - So basically I paid $300 for knife that didn't even last 4 full months, and have been trying like a madman to get back while being stonewalled at very corner. I like his designs, but he's not ready for primetime, and I don't think this knife is either. If you're going to offer an American made product with a lifetime warranty, you'd better be able to offer it. Now I'm out money and a knife. Absolutely a terrible experience. I will never buy another Brousblade in my lifetime. I also don't like how he alludes to them being custom or mid-tech knives when Mr. Brous makes all of his knives in AutoCAD and has them CNCed on his father's machinery. He should be ashamed. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

Pros: Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness, Ease of Opening, Handle Feel, Blade Material, None
Cons: Lock Type
More than I expected!
Totally dig the design concept. Really sharp, great as an EDC. Perfect for my taste in smallish folders. Would like to see a framelock version and a little more "motivation" for the blade to not open so easily while folded in my pocket, or trying to retrieve it from my pocket. Might be good if carried in a custom sheath. All in all, though I really like this knife.
