1095 Carbon Steel
1095 Carbon Steel
An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for it's extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel, most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.

Out of site out of mind
Very happy with Kabar neck knife. I don't use it as a neck knife but I do use it for its low profile. Fits tight against my body or my gear and doesn't profile or get caught on anything. I added a paracord wrap to the handle which makes it easy for me to use as I have large hands. Same quality as all my full size and mini kabars. Blades come with a decent edge but with a short time amount of effort they have a great edge.

It is a good knife. Small and yet it is just as sharp as the full size
I wrapped the bottom of it with 550 chord and it works great. It is just as strong and sharp as my full size K-bar fighting knife.

2nd review of the same knife
I have had this knife for a couple of months now and I have a little bit more experience with this knife than I did when I wrote my last review. I use this knife as my everyday carry knife. I have a necklace made of 550 Para cord for it and when I do not wear it around my neck I stick it in my front pocket. I use this knife for everything. When I am fishing I put it around my neck and it is always right there where I need it. I use it often while fishing and it is always in the perfect place to reach it, right between my belly and chess. I also use this knife at work as a machinist. I use it often. This week I had to make a square block of aluminum using only hand tools and this knife helped me a lot. I have whittled little slivers of aluminum for a week now squaring up this block and I have yet had to sharpen it. This knife is as good as it gets. At first I really did not care for neck knives or this knife because of its handle but void all of that. The handle is small to keep from getting in your way and I do not see how we have went many thousands of years with out everybody carrying a neck knife. I do not see why folders are needed any more since there is the neck knife. This is a great product. I have removed the black coating but it still holds nice in the sheath. I pulled it in and out of the sheath at least 5 times a day and it still locks up tight. I like this knife. I feel that between my BK9 and this knife I will be ok in most all situations.
