Pros: Materials, Overall Quality, Sheath/Scabbard, Finish, Weight, Blade Material, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Handle Material, None
This knife is very well designed and made for doing maximum damage at close range. Held in a reverse grip a hook to someone’s jaw would impact along the throat. A jab to the body would go into the abdomen, while a strike to the lower body could rip into the groin. It does not take much training/practice with this knife to be able to do some serious injury to someone looking to hurt/kill you. Held in a forward grip you can make more precise strikes. The tip of the handle protrudes a little unless you have massive hands and could also be used as a striking point if needed. The knife came razor sharp out of the box. The blade is 1/8 of an inch thick and tapers down to a 1/16 of an inch at the front and is very solid. Sheath is of good quality and locks the knife in with a nice “click” but does not require much of a pull to remove the knife when needed. The sheath came with two straps attached to the back so there are a number of carry options. While this is a fairly large knife (7 and 1/4 inch), when carried in the handle forward position along the back on a belt it contours nicely with my body and is not very visible under a shirt.A potential issue with this knife is that for whatever reason my hand tends to bunch up at the bend in the handle, especially when in the reverse grip. While my hand has never spilled out onto the blade when drawing or using the knife it often feels like it might. Could just be me and a need for more practice using the knife in reverse grip. Another issue to some might be that of comfort. To me this knife is not very comfortable to hold no matter what the grip. I personally like this discomfort as it serves as a mental reinforcement that if this knife is pulled bad things are going to happen. However, for some people I could see how an uncomfortable feeling knife would be a negative. The price point is also fairly high. You could easily buy two good carry knives for the price of this one. I titled this review “a monster” because that is what this knife is. You keep this knife hidden away until it has to be unleashed and then “watch out” because terrible things are going to happen. This knife scares me because of how it flaunts its potential lethality, but that is also why I bought it. If you are looking for a solid, no nonsense, in-close edged weapon for defense this one will be hard to beat. Thanks Knife Center!
