KA-BAR Knives
BK4 Becker Machax
The Becker BK4 is an American made kukri-style fixed blade. Many would classify this as a machete. With its 0.188" carbon steel blade, it's a heavy duty and very solidly built knife. The black epoxy coating provides corrosion resistance and added protection to the blade. The removable handles are great for medium and large size hands. Fit and finish are perfect with even grind lines and shaving sharp right out of the box. Becker products are manufactured by KA-BAR Knives in Olean, NY using top quality materials. The Nylon sheath features a hard plastic lining for safe and secure storage. This is a great investment for longtime ownership. We consider this to be one of the best value fixed blade knives.

Becker Knife & Tool Designs
Ethan Becker founded Becker Knife & Tool in the early 1980's and set about designing, manufacturing and selling the industrial-strength tactical and survival knives that he had always wanted for himself. His products, the BK&T line, have gone a long way to making these now popular all-black knives in demand.

Mr. Becker spends as much time as possible in the outdoors testing a variety of equipment and knife designs, and also works to expand his primitive and outdoor skills. He collaborated with KA-BAR in 2008 and has reintroduced and brought up to date his best selling models.

1095 Carbon Steel
1095 Carbon Steel
An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for its extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel (it will rust) and most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.
Zytel Handles
Zytel Handles
A nylon polymer that is lightweight and extremely durable, Zytel can be shaped and textured to provide excellent grip.

Pros: Overall Quality, None
Cons: Handle Material
Good but
This an unusual design, and fairly light weight for wood processing. I like the knife, but the handle is smallish and very slippery. Buying the improved Becker grips is another $44+. Meanwhile the standard Kabar grip is great. I vote or the knife coming with the std Kabar material, but larger to fit these knives.

KA-BAR BK4 Becker Machax.
The BK4 is going to be used for wild camping in Derbyshire and Scotland. I couldn't find one in the UK for this price even with the shipping and expected duty costs.... I'll be up on Stanton Moor near the 3,000 year old stone circle soon.... Many thanks for the service Knife Centre.

beyond my expectation
Comes very very sharp, feel sharper than my bk7 and bk9, I think the curve helps a lot when cutting tough material. Slightly lighter than bk9 and better balanced IMO. Fit in hands very well, very natural to swing/slash. Will buy a couple of more before discounted like bk5 and bk15.
