Pros: Handle Feel, Weight, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Lock Type, None
Not exactly what I expected, but . . .
There are two different listings for live-blade Krudo Snags here on KnifeCenter - one for $122 and one for $153 - and I wasn't sure what the difference was between them other than the price. A cursory glance at the pictures really didn't show any differences. I ordered the cheaper one and received it today - now I see the differences. Firstly, the ring on this version isn't jimped like the ring on the other. There are lines on it like it was meant to be cut, but it hasn't been. Taking a closer look at the picture, that was intentional. Secondly, the clip is different, although I actually prefer this clip over the one on the other. Lastly, the finish is stonewashed on this blade, whereas on the more expensive version there's a matte finish. Still, it is an excellent design. The thumb ramp really allows you to generate leverage that makes some seriously painful pressure when used to snag an arm or shoulder. The handle is very natural in the hand without any sharp edges digging into your fingers or palm. The blade came sharp enough to shave with, though it was a little tight until I adjusted it. The frame is lightweight but feels sturdy; the only thing I feel could be better is if it was a frame lock instead of a liner lock, but a man can't have everything. All in all, an excellent self-defense carry.
