Description
KS1080: Skinning Knife
Kershaw Knives

Part of the American-Made Hunters series, the Kershaw Skinning Knife is designed to be a simple, well-made tool that simply works. The blade has a razor-sharp edge and a deep belly to make skinning easy. Its compact size makes it perfect for doing both larger jobs and delicate work. It's highly maneuverable, lightweight, easy to carry, and easy to stow.

High-performance Sandvik 14C28N blade steel and full-tang construction makes the Skinning Knife strong and corrosion resistant. The blade's stonewashed finish hides scratch that can be expected on a hard-working knife like this. The Skinning Knife comes "shaving sharp" out of the box and re-sharpens quickly and easily so your work on tough-skinned animals—like wild hogs—is barely interrupted. The handle has an index finger contour so it stays securely in your hand as you work.

Textured G10 handle scales and heavy jimping on the top of the knife ensure you get a secure grip every time, in all outdoor conditions. The simplicity of its design also makes it very easy to clean up after a good day's work. Field-tested by hunting pros, this made-in-the-USA hunting knife is sure to become a go-to knife for the quality-minded hunter.

Perfect size blade and excellent edge
This is a great knife for close up use. Not too big on the waist. Great value for the materials used. It deserves a fancy handle, but there is nothing wrong with the composites used.

Nice Knife!
Hmm, let's see, I don't need another EDC, since I carry a Swiss Army Pioneer, plus either an ESEE Izula or Swamp Rat Rodent 3. But, I love the Kershaw 1080 skinner because it's so light, VERY sharp and feels good. My intention is to use this as a work knife when I occasionally assist a home improvement contractor. I'd wanted something a step or two above a regular utility knife for odd tasks on the job. This knife if many steps up. Blade taper from back to front renders the tip less strong than either of my other EDC fixed blades, but I don't mind; I won't need to pry with it. The blade slices paper nicely, and will work for any cutting task on the job. As a deer hunter, I hope to eventually use the 1080 for skinning, for which is appears to be superbly designed. The leather sheath is nice enough, but be careful how you slide the knife back in. Mine has to go in just right to go all the way in for a tight fit. Watch your fingers! This baby is SHARP! Sure, a Kydex sheath would be nice, but also expensive. A sheath like the Izula's would be very good, but the leather works well enough, and looks good too. Great job Kershaw, and great work Knife Center. My 1080 arrived by first-class Mail two days after I ordered it.

good skinner
A good skinning knife is useful for lots of things. I carried a smaller kershaw folder with this pattern for years as a constant companion. An astonishing amount of work was done with that little two inch blade including working up many whitetail deer. Hard to believe but true. When I saw this knife I had to have it. Its a compromise of course but an excellent one. Nice fit to the hand. Very useful tool. Blade may be a bit big for some stuff but as a general knife AND a skinner it should be fine. The scales are a question. Not sure how easy to keep clean they will be but they have a bit of grip which may be nice. Well made leather sheath fits the knife nicely. Has drain opening at bottom which is often left out these days. The sheath was a bit tight out of the box but with some neatsfoot oil has loosened to just right. At the sale price this is HUGE bargain. I would recommend it based on the company and the actual knife in hand. I have a big pile of knives and sixty plus years of experience so have a clue what is good and what isn't. Knife Center has been a reliable company to deal with - each question answered and each order promptly shipped. I assume if I ever have a return they will be good with that too. Prices are generally near the bottom so I don't have to hunt all over to know I am being fairly treated. Deal with confidence.
